I love the Hummvee, I think it is probably one of the coolest SUV's ont he planet and have felt that way for a long time. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed when they started selling a watered down commercial version.

Well...... there is an auto shop next door to my work, and I had my camera with me last night, and now I show conclusive evidence as to why I want a Mil Spec (Built on Military specifications) Hummvee. (this was an H3, according to the shop this is about$15thousand of repair work)

Talked to the guys in the garage this evening when I got in, turns out that in the last snow we had here in the 'Cuse, the driver hit a snow bank, went up and snagged the rear axle on a guardrail. Tore up the leaf springs and attachments, the shocks/struts, the rear trans axle, the entire rear axle and the drive shaft to the rear trans axle and a few other things. plus the body work and a full paintjob so it all matches

My brother had one of those for his wedding. Sweet ride. Wouldn't want the fuel bill for filling it up though :)

I rode in of those to and from a to-be high school graduate dinner thing. Pretty pimpin'. We had the music blasting and sodas in the side icebin things and everything. We wanted to keep riding in that thing for the rest of the night.

Hummers in the UK are hated, purely because the gas-guzzle - 1mile per gallon - that's discraceful when I can get 45mpg out of my little 306!!!

They're too big more most roads here anyway - watch this TopGear clip with Jeremy Clarkson - 1minute 16 seconds will tell you why they're unsuitable!

See... I am actually environmentally conscious, I'll take my military Humvee and get the biodeisel conversion for it :)

Actually, the average for an H2 is 10 / 15 - but that assumes the vehicle is in top mechanical operating condition. A very, very poor mileage ratio . . .

    I'm with Calltaker . . . gimme a old military Humvee and I'll happily do the fuel conversion . . . ;)
