I have a Dell 6000 Inspiron laptop running Windows HP Home Edition.
I tried to boot up yesterday and got the following error message: lsass.exe - unable to locate component. Whe you hit enter you get another windows message that states: This application failed to start because LSARV.dd was not found. Reinstalling the application mayfix the problem. The issue here of course is: "I can't load any applications or an O/S because I can't get beyond this message. I tried to run diagnostics and got an error message that stated : :Dst Short Status Test
    Test Results: Fail
    Error Code: 1000-1042
    Status Byte = 80

Some things I found on the web said that I need to pull the hard drive, and take it somewhere that could install it on a machine that had anti-virus software that could clean the drive.

If anyone has any input on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all help. Craig Murphy
