no name to click on

i have a machine that will turn on but comes up to the screen to log onto
windows xp but there are no names to click on what can i do??

 

XP home or pro?

If you boot into safe mode, do you get an option, like administrator and username? I.E. username being any user you created, when you first accepted the EULA?

 

no names in safe mode either sorry

 

Is this XP home or XP Pro?

 

xp home is the operating system

 

Doubt it will work, but try, hitting CTRL + ALT + DEL two times.

Then type your username, then your password, to login.

Typically, this will only work with pro, but give it a shot.

Otherwise, from a wee bit of reading, you will need to do a repair install of xp:

 

Actually, boot into safe mode, then use the CTRL + ALT + DEL (2 times). Then if the username and password dialog box shows up, use "administrator" as the username, then press enter.
