    Welcome to Major Geeks!

If you suspect that you are having malware issues then do the below as your problem with MBAM could be related to malware.

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:

Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

this is the first time for me that i apply to a forum and I am french that is why i can make some mistake like this bumping thing,,,i just don't know how and where to enter my questions???

*Dear replyer TimW., if I go into safe mode, it will make all my desk bigger wich makes it almost impossible to do or run anything this way, so why should i do it in safe mode friend? forgive my lack of knowledge darling...*:-o

Dear TimW., i have to say that i'm having another problem that is worst that the one with anti-malware...,

I tried to reformat my vista with the original CD, and something did not work right, when i entered my id code it did not know it, but it WAS & IS the original cd so i don't understand why it did not work, so i stoped the process, closed my computer and now i have this message that is showing everytime i close and re-open my computer, it appears before the window's logo comes in, and the message is like 10 phrases long but at the end it says:
*floppy diskette seek failure Strike F1 key to continue F2 to run >>> the setup utility.*

In the BIOS i tried to put (in the boot menu) the hard disk in first, and cd second the others had a (not present) on them so i took their numbers out
I tried (in the drives) playing with the on and off
these things i did, where always what the others forums said to do for resolving this problem...but nothing works
so i have a floppy disk that i don't need or want and a permanent message everytime i open my computer, thank you for reading me and please forgive my bad english and my lack of knowledge...(I'm working on it)

You are doing very well with the language. But let me get a few things straight. You tried to do a reformat but that failed. And now you have a floppy drive message. This usually can be remedied in the bios by disabling the floppy drive. ( This is an issue you need to post in the software forum).

As to the initial post to you...those instructions only asked you to boot into safe mode if you could not run any of the tools/scans in normal mode.

What you need to do is follow the instructions and run the requested toos/scans for your system (Vista ) and attach the logs. At this point, the most important log I need is the one from running the C:\MGTools.exe and attach the C:\MGLogs.zip.

Dear Tim, How are you doing sweetheart?
I don't know if you will agree with that but I decided to reformate my computer, so I erased everything and start back from scratch,,,you see, I have this computer and learn from it for 2 years on and off and i made many mistakes on it

I began to do what you've told me (and I thank you so much for that,) but when i went to my malwarebytes anti-malware and clicked on it a message appear telling me that the executable file had been changed, that that would be a virus or, if it was my doing to continue with it, but it was not by me so i had to block it,,,then i made the decision to reformate everything from scratch, and now you won't have to deal with me no more...ahahahahahah, just kidding Tim...:-o

You were awsome, thank you again for helping me and who knows, maybe you will see my name back here again...ahah, let's hope not though, for your sake, mine and my computer...ahahah...

so take care dear tech angel...big hugs
    your student,
    ^Batcat^ xoxo :cry:wave

I am going to venture a guess that based on the MBAM message, you had one of the newer infections that can be very difficult to remove. So you may have done the most expedient thing. Now I suggest that you read over this:
How to Protect yourself from malware!

And you are most welcome, but do hang around. The forums are a great place to learn and socialize if you so desire. :)
