Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Please follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and then attach the requested logs to your next reply when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.
    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes, you could use a flash drive too, but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
    * Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated - our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

I have done everything in the Read and Run Me First Guide.

I keep on getting warnings that the computer is low on memory, and then it freezes.

Forgive me for not attaching the other two logs. These two are the most interesting and I'm worried my computer will freeze again if I don't send them immediately.

    Will send them later.

    Thank you, Reid

So far your logs look fine.
But keep going as the other logs may reveal something. ;)

    Also run this:

[IMG] Please download and scan with TDSSKiller
    • Do not use the Change Parameters button
    • When the scan is finished, a log will be created in the root of your C: drive
    • Example: C:\TDSSKiller.2.7.47.0_25.07.2012_15.06.22_log.txt
    • Attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

    Hello thisisu:

    Here are the three logs.

No obvious problems that I can see from these scans.

However, I have had memory problems today, even just before I rebooted right now. No memory warning yet during this restart, but in the last several days I've been getting memory warnings - that look like they're coming from my PC - untill the PC freezes up.

    Thanks again,

    Reid

Your logs are some of the cleanest I have seen in a while. I really do not think this is malware related at all but I'd like to see what this scan tells us.

[IMG] Please download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop and run it.

    Checkmark following checkboxes:

    • List Devices -> All
    • List last 10 Event Viewer log
Press Go and attach the result (Result.txt) that pops up. A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

    Download ev_clear.zip
Extract the ev_clear.bat file inside of it onto your desktop.
Now run ev_clear.bat by right-mouse clicking it and selecting "Run as administrator".
It should run very quickly and close itself, no log is produced

Then reboot your computer and retry the same instructions with MiniToolBox.
Make sure that you are also checking "List Devices => All".

Then reboot your computer and retry the same instructions with MiniToolBox.
Make sure that you are also checking "List Devices => All".

Still getting the same error from MiniToolBox: Could not start eventlog service, could not read events.

[IMG] Please download GrantPerms64 by Farbar

Open GrantPerms64.zip and extract GrantPerms64.exe to your desktop.
Run GrantPerms.exe by double-clicking it. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
Copy the text in the code box below and paste it into the text-field available.
    Code:
    C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\WMI\RtBackup

    Now click the "Unlock" button.
Click the "OK" button when you see "Unlock operation completed".
Now click the "List Permissions" button.
    Note: Notepad will open afterwards.
This Perms.txt log file is on your desktop.
Attach Perms.txt to your next message. (How to attach)

    __

Now use Windows Explorer to find and delete this folder (the one we just unlocked):
    • C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\WMI\RtBackup

    __

Reboot and re-run runme.bat and try MiniToolBox again too.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "Now use Windows Explorer to find and delete this folder (the one we just unlocked):
    C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\WMI\RtBackup"

I'm using Internet Explorer to look for a way to delete it.

I've found the folder on my computer and attempted to delete it.

It is not allowing me to. It is saying that I need administrator permission, a problem I have with numerous files.

I will continue to look for a way to delete it unless ordered otherwise.

    Great ;)
Ok basically you are not infected with any type of malware but there are probably some other Windows problems.

I recommend visiting the Software forum for additional assistance

    __

If you are not having any other malware related problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    • Any programs we had you download and/or install can be removed at this time.
    • If we had you download and run ComboFix, here is how to uninstall it:
      • Press and hold the Windows key [IMG] and then press the letter R on your keyboard.
      • This opens the Run dialog box.
      • Copy and paste the below text inside the text-field:
        • "%userprofile%\desktop\ComboFix" /uninstall
      • Now press ENTER
      • ComboFix will extract its files one last time and you should receive a notification that ComboFix has been uninstalled shortly after.
    • You can re-enable your Disk Emulation software at this time via DeFogger.
    • If we had you create or download a registry patch or "fix" script, these can be deleted at this time.
    • Go into the C:\MGtools folder and run the MGclean.bat file to remove additional traces of our tools.
    • Now we will toggle System Restore to remove any infected system restore points.
    • Lastly, here is a guide to protect you from future infections: How to Protect yourself from malware!
    • Be safe :)

Thank you so much for all your help. I'm still having serious problems, but it is good to know that one problem is solved.

I will continue in the software forum you suggested.

Is there a good way of letting them know about all the things we've tried?
