I have a gateway solo laptop running Windows 98 system. After downloading and installing windows updates from http://update.microsoft.com/, my system automatically senses some problem and then automatically restores the system to an eariler date. This whipes out my internet connection settings and I now will have to pay $120 to have a technitician come out to reestablish my internet connections.

It's been about a month since this happened. I would like to undo the last system restore to get back my internet settings but cannot locate the system restore program in Windows 98 (it's not in the Accessories folder).

    Please help!

Windows 98 doesn't come with System Restore; that started with Windows ME.

If you know your ISP internet connections settings, you could manually reset them, or even call your ISP and they should walk you through it at no charge.

You could also download and try this:

Depending on the type of connection you have, it could reset them automatically for you.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
