Have two XP machines, one Home and one Pro. I have connected a D-Link DI624 wireless router to the on-board NIC on my XP Pro. I've got a D-Link DWL-650 PCMCIA wireless adapter on my XP home Laptop.

I've set up the router, configured WEP for 128-bit encryption.

Both PC's can see each other in My Network Places, but when double-clicking on them, I get the following:

\\"name" is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator...

Both are set up as a Workgroup, with the same workgroup name. Both use dynamic IP from the router. Neither can ping each other.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Steve

Have you enabled shared files in network setup wizard? Also, you need to right click some folders, such as your documents, and enable them to be shared.

In my previous experiences, even before enabling file sharing, you can still double-click on a workgroup computer in My Network Places. You will see an icon for Printers and for Scheduled Tasks. If there were shared folders, thats where they'd be.

I tried that. I made the entire My Documents on the XP Pro machine sharable, but still not allowed access to the PC through My Network Places.

I can't evn ping, yet all connected PC's show up in My Network Places.
