Alright i got a new computer Windows 7 , ive tried this on IE 8 , IE 9 and Chrome.

Basicly when i go onto facebook i seem to get a certificate error... which is ridiculous because the site is obviously safe. I wouldnt really mind it but it seems to be blocking alot of content such as pictures and all that good stuff.

Im honestly stumped! ive googled this problem and im getting the solution to be check your time and date because its probably wrong.. but mine seems to be correct and i checked the time , date , year , timezone everything!! maybe im missing something?!?!

someone please help me out ! :confused

Some companies that register certificates were hacked and hundreds of false security certificates were created. In September there were two windows security updates to address this fake certificate problem.

You are kidding, right? People pick up malware from Facebook. It is not just a few isolated incidents.

For the moment, you may have to live with it until true certificates are re-issued.

this is still happening its actually the most annoying thing thats ever happen on computers for me. :( like usually it will let me visit the site with all the pictures x'ed out but sometimes it will actually say Access Denied.

When i get the access denied or even the warning , if i reset my router (pull the power out for 10seconds) it will fix the problem temporarly ... maybe this is a router problem or something? anyone??? :confused

I got a certificate error while logging into f/b a few weeks ago, so I contacted f/b and they said it was a temporary thinfgg, along the the lines of the exlanation offered by plodr, but much simplified. I'd post their response but f/b and my email programs have gotten so slow it'd take me half hour

temporary as in it wont happen anymore once it gets re-issued or what? like you have no idea how annoying this has become.. to the point where i will get access denied or other stupid things happen where i cant even visit the site.

only way to resolve this for like a 10minutes is re-setting my router... :(

All I can suggest you do is NOT use your bookmark links. Instead type the address into the bar and see if that works properly. If it does, wipe the bookmarks you were using because they point to the wrong site and save the one that works.
If it doesn't, contact the website, tell them your problem for the past several months and ask for a possible fix.

Have you checked for an update to the root certificates via Windows/Microsoft Update yet?

I have had the same problem for months! It seems random but happens every day at different times. I really hope someone can help.:(

I know this will sound lame and ridiculous, and I'm sure it's not the problem, but I'd say that 99% of the time when I get certificate errors on a client's PC, it is due to the time/date settings in Windows being wrong. I'm serious. Take 20 seconds and make sure that Windows time & date is correct... if it is, oh well, it was worth a shot.

Didja check the date too? Even if the time is right, if the date is off even by a day, you can get cert errors - I'm sure you checked the date too, but you didn't mention it, so I figured I'd be pushy. LOL ;) rolleyes :-o

Yes I did check the date. It has never been wrong. I wish the solution was that simple:(

    Greetings, GwennyGirl...

If you've tried all of the aforementioned, for s&g try cleaning all of your temp. internet files caches. To do this thoroughly, if you don't already have it download and install CCleaner. Close all browsers, dump any files listed in Internet Options > Browsing History, and run CCleaner's cleaning routine.

Then try the FB thing again - may not change your symptoms, but it's worth a shot...

Thank you! I tried CCleaner and it seems ok for now. I'll wait and see how it goes for a day or so since the problem can be random. I'll let you know.

Thank you for the suggestion Dreadart. I tried that too. Didn't work. I have switched my browser to Firefox and it still happens, just not as often. Maybe I'll figure it out someday :)
