I am trying to improve performance on my computer by shutting off unnecessary startup processes and programs as well as by uninstalling programs that are not necessary to the proper functioning of my new notebook. This notebook uses windows vista home premium version. If anyone can offer me any help in this area I would appreciate it.

The model number of the notebook is DV6224us if that helps at all.
