hi, i know there are countless problems regarding this error, but if i can explain my situation, i have browsed and read threads on this problem, but my situastion is unique in that i can no longer get to the desktop, before i get this BSOD stop error asnd win32k.sys error.

i'll just try to give a quick summary, my computer has been down for over 2 months, it is only essentially a year in a half old, i bought all parts seperately online, and built it myself, still having limited knowledge, but i had to have a computer case with a carrying handle.

ok well, suddenly my computer would shut off with no warnings, it did this a few times, over a month span, then it would start randomly rebooting, until finally it stopped booting at all, so i tried reinstalling my operating system on a new hardrive, it would not reinstall and i would get several different stop errors AKA blue screens of death. so after i got a rediculous quote on getting it looked at and no guarantee it could get fixed, i decided that eventually i would probably have to buy new pasrts, so i went ahead and bought a new motherboard and than new ram after the same issues occured with the new gigabyte motherboard.

i installed the new ram and i was able to get to my log-on screen that i set-up a password to access windows, i got to the desktop, 1st time in over 2 1/2 months, for literally 8 seconds before i got the blue screen of death. this time all stop errors pointed to 1 particular file, the dreaded win32k.sys eeverytime.

i figured the memory most of been one thing needing to be fixed, what i figured was the random shgut downs completely fried my memory. but i cannot be sure.

so i short, most of the answers to the questions on what is win32k.sys and how to fix these stop errors/BSOD's have all required me to atleast be able tp boot into safe mode, well i cannot boot into any mode as i get the restarts constantly. in over 9 years of using computers i have never had a problem like this that has never allowed me to boot into safe mode, or that has been reluctant to everything i have tried. i ended up putting another $200 into buying a new mobo, hard drive and ram, and i keep getting this error.

so i am asking what can i do? what can it possibly be? how could it be a virus when i used a new hard drive reformatted old one and reinstalled fresh copy of win xp, and than bought new mobo and ram?

a quick word on my setup.

win xp pro (when and if i can ever reboot again)
amd atlon x64 dual core 5000 cpu
    dvdrw sony
    g. skill 800 ddr2 8500 (when system crashed)
new replaced kingston hyperram ddr2 1066, but runs at default 800 (new just bought)
foxconn A7GM-S (old one started getting reboots with)
    bought new Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H
onboard video HD 4200 and HD 3200 on foxconn

i use no seperate pci video card, my computer is built in an apevia XQPACK, it is a small lan pc with the 420 watt included power supply, and both mobos are micro atx.

please any info needed left out please ask, this is my 1st time posting asking for help on this, so sorry if i left anything out, or if it to long, i was hoping i would get replies asking more needed info, and from experienced pc professional, please no replies are needed from anyone constantly going over the same things i have read searching this forum, (unless it'll help a pc that won't boot to desktop, and me in this situation) or who have no idea on how to help or experience fixing simliar BSOD errors or computers.

just trying to get the best possible solution/answers on what to do next.

i know best thing would be to have a professional look at it, but in my town, there are very few, and the quote i got from one was $200 just to look and diagnose it, and more if i needed to get it fixed. not including buying new parts for it.

so i hope this all makes sense and please feel free to pm me personally, or however that works, anmd reply with any steps/process/answers on what to do now.

    thanks so much.

:wave Welcome to Major Geeks! :major

Quite a lengthy thread, and, honestly, I didn't read it all. I did skim it and I didn't see the exact error number listed anywhere. It would look something like "STOP:0x0000007F". If you knew this number, it may be easier to offer some advice... on another note:
:eek WHAAA?!?!?!? This is madness and robbery. I work full time in a small independent PC shop, and telling someone that an estimate is $200 is a sure way to never get any work, at all. $200 just to see what's wrong with it?? Then MORE to fix it??!?!???!? Madness. This guy probably gets VERY little work so he obviously needs to gouge people when he does get some "action". Any trustworthy and honest PC shop would give you a free estimate, or maybe charge a MAX of only $40 for a full diagnostic (we only charge for the diagnostic if they decide to not fix it after being given the estimate, and the fee is only $29, and that's for a FULL COMPLETE system diagnostic). Anyway- enough of the rant. If you can post the EXACT error number, it might be helpful. Have you tried a repair install? If you have your XP install CD, you can perform a repair install w/o losing any data or settings or shortcuts (occasionally, the shortcuts and custom settings will be lost, but this is usually due to corrupt user profile info). Check out this link for a step-by-step guide to performing a repair install.... good luck, and post the error number if possible.
    ;)

yes, the quote was rude, pompous and rediculous, part of it was cause he wanted to sell me a copy of xp i didn't want.

the STOP error beging like this STOP: 0x0000008E , 0xC0000005, OxB5C74BD4

    it is the 8E.

i know i typed alot, but in what i typed i explained that i did a full reformat and used a new hard drive and still get the same dreadful errors.

it seems nobody wants to help with this challenging type of problem.

this is the only website i posted this "long" reply on.

maybe if i was willing to fork out $200 i'd get alot of help. haha.

thanks for anny future help replies, and hope that stop error sheds insight, but please read my full reply, so you can understand that i have read most threads on the win32k.sys error, with supposed fixes, or suggestion, but they have all required i be able to atylerast boot into safe mode if not boot at all before i get the BSOD's.

hi austrailien, nice name! thanks for your reply!

the voltages with the new ram were somewhere 1.8 or so, but seemed to be normal, i will hook it up and take note or take a snapshot with my camera, ... damn it! i just realised i'm on this pentrium 3 now with windows millenium and i can't hook up my camera.

if you would be willing to stick with me in trying to get this fixed i will try to give you any info you can think of in trying to help me diagnose this.

i'll go hook it up and find the voltages!
thanks, please stick with me, i have been through hell with this lately!

no help for you, but curious who the "professional" was. was that $200 quote from geeksquad by any chance?

did the same thing to me only they quoted me $99; when they showed up at my door, they told me it was actually going to be $200, regardless what i was told on the phone when i set up the appointment. sent the nice little man away with a "nevermind." LOL i got an installation cd & an external usb drive from Dell for $70 total, instead.

tell everyone you know do NOT let geeksquad "help" you...but that's just MHO.

no it it was "alpha computers" they're pretty rude and just blew me away with the way they dealt with potential customers. customer no more call me.

anyways, i have the voltages for the foxconn motherboard and the new kingston ram i bought.

i actually just got to the deesktop again for almost 13 seconds, than it blue screened, this time no win32k.sys error named specifically, but a stop error that started 0x etc and ended with last couple letter in 24.

    the voltages are:

    CPU Core = 1.312v
    Dram Voltage = 1.872v
    NB Voltage = 1.072v
    +3.3v = 3.488v
    + 12.0v = 12.224v

and the CPU fan speed is 3300 averaging.

    EDIT: CPU Temp is 44 C/ 111 F
    SYS Temp is 27 C/ 80 F

i also used artic silver thermal 5 when i 1st iinstalled stock heatsink and cpu, than i recently cleaned it all off reinstalled artic silver again, after all the proble ms and trying the new mobo and ram. so i'm using the best thermal laquer as they recommend.

hope this helps. i really have no idea what those numbers mean. but i think the memory was sdupposed to run around 1.8volts or so, but i have no idea.

The PSU that comes with the Apevia XQPACK is questionable even though the voltage readings may look ok.
PSUs that come with cases are often junk.

Re: constant win32k+BSOD cannot install Windows or boot, please help, tried all i kno

i have people telling me they don't think it's the psu, certified techs etc.

please people, someone can save me $129 (the quote i just got) for a software related issue only, $60 to diagnose it, and what if it is my power supply?

they don't have any that will fit my case.

please, if anyone has ever felt bad for someone who is going nuts and broke who's left with forking over unknown amounts of money to fix this, when all i need to know is what it is, and how to fix it. save said money and than buy the parts i need, if i do indeed need to buy more parts. already bought motherboard and ram.

    please, help.

if you can't please help me get this thread to a forum/person/tech who can. please.

    thank you thank thank you.
