Ok.. I hate to bother anyone.. but I'm no geek. I've tried everything to fix this problem I am having, and I'm sick of losing my mind now. My problem is... in Internet Explorer, I can click a link that is supposed to open in a new window... and this will not work. I can right click the link and try to open in new window, and this will not work. Javascript that opens new windows will not work. Also.. Ctrl+F won't work... even if I go under Edit and click it. Then, under the Start menu... when I try to go to Search and Find Files and Folders.. this won't even open. I also can not print with Internet Explorer.. and I have redownloaded the new version. I can copy the webpage and paste it into Word, and I can print though. I have no clue what is going on with my computer, I've ran many virus detectors and so forth, and I can come up with nothing. I really hate to bother anyone with this problem, but I don't want to have to format my hard drive to get rid of this annoying problem.

Were you having the same problem with 56k before Cable?

Maybe it's time for sfc /scannow

    Internet Options, advanced.

    Browsing section.

Uncheck enable third party browser extensions

Internet options\advanced restore defaults. May need to repair IE possibly.

I did that last nite.. I changed the data value under the registry so I could reinstall IE.. and I did.. didn't change anything though.
I figured it could also be Java.. and I uninstalled Java and reinstalled it... still didn't work

I did the sfc /scannow and it didn't work either.. and neither did disabling the third party browser extension

Oh.. I dont know if this is tied in with my other problem.. but I keep getting the message:
    Java(TM) Plug-in Fatal Error
The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded from <\bin\hotspot\jvm.dll>

and on top of that.. InstallShield wont work when I try to finish downloading Kazaa...
I never had a problem with anything on my comp until 3 weeks ago.. and now its dying on me :-/

    Hi threewingedfury
If having tried the above and your still having no luck i would go for a system restore as this has proved very popular in the past in dealing with odd faults. I Would suggest you go back as far as possible and take it from there
    Good luck :)

Ok.. I don't have the Application Data folder under my user name... so they can't work..
and yes I have Java installed:

And.. about system restore.. I never turned it on... so I have no data to go back to...
I guess this just keeps getting worse and worse

    Hi threewingedfury
Just right click on my computer then properties there you will see system restore. Just click on it and you can then see if it is on or not. If it is on it will have been making a restore point every day. To do a restore you will then have to go to START/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEM TOOLS/ SYSTEM RESTORE open up the restore panel and then click on restore my computer to an earlier time. Think hard as to when you did not have your current problem and then click on the date. The computer will then reboot and then come back to the desktop hopefully with your problem sorted
