The claim is that the Xbox 360 has a "defective design" in which the power supply and central processing unit overheat which affects heat sensitive chips and can cause the console to freeze or lock up.

ps3 for sure ive been with sony all the way lol, got both playstations when they first came out

its going to have all the good games (some may argue) such as MGS4, Devil May Cry 4, Killzone 2 (hope it turns out somewhere close to the '05 e3 trailer lol) Assassin's Creed and a few others. The $600 dollar price definitely makes me hesitant but seriously, it will kick tha pants off of a PC that costs 2 or 3 times that much. Its going to get Linux too and also doubles as a blu-rayplayer. Those alone cost about a grand

 

I have a 360 right now that I have never had any problems with, even after long hours of playing Oblivion.

It's hard for me to decide because I don't like to judge on specs alone.
I'll make up my mind after I have had a PS3 controller in my hand for several hours(I'll proabably end up buying one eventually).
Until then I will just enjoy the 360 and wait for Halo 3.

 

Neither, I prefer a PC.

 

One word..... "Wii"

Its not the graphics, it's not the size of a game, it's the interactive enjoyment value!

If it wasn't, sony wouldn't be trying to copy cat the Wii controls!

In this day an age, for arguments sake, just get the one 'You' enjoy more, your personal liking! I myself will be getting a Wii, as my first choice, and later I will get a X360 & POS3, that way I can play specific "Exclusive" games, aswell as purchase the best version of a multi-platform title!

But the Nintendo Wii has me hooked, just the new control method will bring life to 'Old' titles, and the new ones will be brilliant, thats my 2 cents!

 

I have an XBox 360, havent experienced anything wrong with it, but I support both Sony and Microsoft and just buy the consoles for enjoyment and not to prove which one is better, most definitely I will get a PS3.

 

I also prefer a PC but they are so dang expensive to get a system that performs on par with a PS3

 

Hope this controller doesnt perform like the PowerGlove. Everyone was beside themselves with excitment when they heard of the PowerGlove, then it came out and there was mass disapointment.


But all in all, I prefer the PC as well. Maybe my pc wont compare to a PS3 or X360, but my PC can be slowly (or quickly) upgraded which is impossible for any console. Plus, after my first PS2 went out (because of GTA VC) I took a solemn vow never to buy a cheap a$$ Sony product again.

 

The diffrence between Wii's controller + Nunchuks (optional) and the powerglove is people have had a full HANDS ON go of Wii's controls, and most say it's an experience you`ll never forget, one even said using Wii's controls in Red Steel makes you wander how you could use a normal controller afterwards!

I prefer PC overall, but I also like 'Exclusive' titles, and to be able to get a computer that performs on par or a little bit better than the latest console out their, you have to wait until 4 years after it was first released to afford the parts, and in the end, you pay 10x as much as it costs at that point in time for the console your trying to beat in performance.

 

Another problem, how many good games do you really expect from Nintendo? Nintendo obviously was great awhile ago (like most I grew up with the NES, SNES and 64 too), but their refusal to make "adult audience" games really sets them back more than a notch. Of course they will have some "Mature" rated games, but not many. So, in this logic, youve already bought a Xbox360, PS3 and Wii, two you buy for the serious games with awesome visuals and the other you buy for the controller....sounds like youve already spent more than a decent gaming rig....a rig that is totally upgradable.

 

I dont play games for Unbelievable graphics, or for pixel blood, I play games for Enjoyment, for Fun, for Entertainment!

Whats your definition of a mature game? blood..... guts... all buitifully rendered... with 4x FSAA?

Red Steel is a Wii Launch title, rated and made for the Late teen/Adult demographic, nintendo have stated this time the gloves are off and realise that half their userbase are adults that grew up with NES, SNES, and N64, and will make more adult rated games for the Wii console, if you head over to wii.com you'll find that statement their!

However, I play games for Enjoyment, im 25, will I enjoy Mario Galaxy? Hell Yeah! Will I enjoy the backwards compatibility with all Gamecube games? For sure, will I download NES, SNES and N64 games that will be downloadable and playable on the Wii console via Nintendo's Wii internet service? Definately!

Nintendo have always revolutionized the gaming industry! and just becuase it isnt gory, or brutal, doesn't mean 'Mature' players won't like it!

 

LoL, I dont know many ppl that play games just for blood and guts, those game usually lose the playability soon. But beautifully rendered landscapes (Oblivion) and graphics are nice to have...but not all that important (like Starcraft).

I also play games for enjoyment (we have so much in common) and am only one year younger than you....so lets not play the age barrier card...huh..
My only gripe with Nintendo is its Disney like image, games that are usually meant for kids and the mentally disabled. Not all Mature games must have blood, guts and sex being "beautifully rendered"...there is more subject matter in the word Mature than just what you may know. Extreme governemnt politcis is considered to be Mature.....

But we must agree to disagree I suppose...

I don't play games, not the ones your meaning, especially the age card one, thingy majiggi!

But honestly, Disney image? granted they favoured the Sub 16 year Old market with the Nintendo 64, but that was then, this is now, each company makes mistakes, its the ones that admit it, that learn from it! But goldeneye was considered a "Mature" rated title, after Goldeneye, Clones popped up here, there and everywhere, trying to mimick the playability and genius, across all formats!

I can sit here and try and make a point about this, that and the next thing, I could choose the 'Revolutionized' card with Nintendo Vs The Competition, or something else, etc etc, but you get the drift. Basically you go with what you want and enjoy, I`m not going to argue like a fanboy with a bad case of A.D.D! It's already starting to get of topic, and to be honest, its starting to have nothing to do with the thread title!

To get back on topic, X360 as well as PS3 are junk. They are made to last 7-12 months and usually start breaking, usually you cant repair just a single component so your forced to buy an all new console. I still have the NES, SNes, 64, Genesis, Sega CD and 3D0.....they all still work. I guess they just dont make them like they used to...

Stick with pc.

Im sorry wavy, i like u and all but im afraid i may just have to kill u now....

The first gen of PS3s, as well as any console, are bound to have bugs. We saw it wil pretty much all consoles, well maybe not the REALLY early one, but most. Personally i dont care for the 360 but its bound to get better as Microsoft fixes all the problems with it, which they have already starred on. They even provide replacements/raeairs for defective 360s and i can almost guaranteel Sony would do the same, especially with a $600 price tag...

 

LOL Drastic times call for drastic measures Viper ...Its kinda like PS3's and X360's are like Ferarri's, they look good and perform well, but are always breaking down.


Please everyone, dont get me wrong, Im not on an all out war here with consoles. To each his own But Luthius had mentioned the price of pc's being more expensive then consoles...that I refuse to believe. Especially when ppl end up buying the best console from all three major companies (MS, SOny and Nintendo).

As for the bugs, it really is disgusting the lack of quality these big companies are investing in thier wares. In the old Nintendo/Genesis days, those things were made tuff...almost child proof. What sickens me is that businesses like Sony and MS are using their customers as guinea pigs. They give you cheap merchandise at an inflated price, which everyone devours gladly, then when it screws up they just record the results, free lab tests....why do extensive costly prelimenary testing...thats what customers are for...I guess.

definitively PS3, sony has the best games ever

 

sony has more titles than any other console, but think about it. what comes out on the playstation that doesn't come out on other systems. the only one i can think of is killzone. plus i don't think it's worth it to buy a ps3 for it's price cause your only paying for the blue ray drive. like nintendo said, the reason they aren't putting hd stuff in their new system is because most people don't have hd capabilities. when more people have hd then nintendo said they are going to release a hd console. i agree with them. i don't have hd so why would i pay $600 for hd capabilities?

Even if u are just paying for the blu-ray drive, you're going to save money over a dedicated player which runs about a grand. And for the people who DO have HD tvs (like me), the $600 model will be worth it. If u dont have HD? buy the cheaper one (even tho u dont get wi-fi and u lose 40gigs of HDD space)

 

Thats the only reason I would buy a PS3. Gotta Love MetalGear.

in my opinion xbox offers better graphics than playstation.
i would have to go with xbox 360 for gaming experience but PS3 for wide choice in games (all xbox games seem to be shooting)

I have posted in many "console war" threads on many different forums, I'm not saying this is a console war thread, but I can garuntee you it will turn into one eventually.

It's simple, buy the console that will best meet your gaming requirements, if you like the line/genre of games that are released on a Sony system the most, buy a Sony system, if you like the line/genre of games on a Microsoft system, buy a Microsoft system, and if you like the line/genre of games on a Nintendo system, than buy a Nintendo system, it's just that simple. Every console has it's own set of strong points and flaws over the other, they are all good systems in there own way.

Now, for my closing statement of this post. The thing that gripes me the most is how people talk about the graphics on a system. Yes, developers do have to relate to hardware around there designs, but almost everybody never thinks that what you are looking at on the screen is created by a human being. Please remember that it is a human being that is creating the level, the character, the gun, the couch, the gay looking plant outside, the lights, etc. etc. etc. Yes, they utilize hardware, but the graphics you are looking also take a great deal of artistical talent from the designer himself. If you have a really good artist, your going to have really good graphics, if you have a really bad artist, your eye candy isnt going to taste too good, lol.

Anyway, this is my two cents on the whole thing.

Your post, direct yet uniformed, is mostly true. If you had read the others post, you would see that everyone is going to buy what they want anyway. This is just a discussion, it has no real bearing in real life. As you said, to each his own.


Im aware that stunning visuals dont make a game good. But is it just me or do PC games just look better than console games, and yet some PC games still manage to carry a capitvating story. Consoles usually steer in the Run and Gun catagory anyway. Kill as many ppl as you can within a given time and you win.....

you know what i want? i want sony and nintendo to merge to form the pswii3 so i can play MGS and FF all i want paired with the most amazing thing ever to happen to gaming. But frankly, i'll still choose the wii over the games because i think that the wii will be the shiit.

 

yes but sony have taken way too long to release the ps3, xbox 360 have had much longer to get a bigger share of the market. by the time ps3 is released, no doubt there will be an xbox 720 out

Don't forget Oblivion. I know it's on PC too but you can't get it on any Sony console. Sony still has a lot more, but I believe in quality, not quantity.
