Error 1706

Hey all....

Installed Office 2K3 SB over Office 2K and I keep getting the error 1706 and it wants to install something using O2K installer...

Driving me crazy! In program files O2K still shows up should I remove it??

This happens on W2K Pro and XP PRo and it's updated.

Can you please post the exact error?

 

Error 1706 . No valid source could be found for product Microsoft Office 2000 Sr-1 Pro. The windows installer cannot contiue.

This come up when printing an email. After the error hitting cancel brings up the print window.

Is this because O2K is still installed??


Also when tring to update Office 2K3 on another client "logged on as admin"
I get installation unsuccesful. Just dont understand on other clients I have no problems with updates.

Try removing Office with the Windows Installer Cleanup utility.

Then reinstall.

 

uninstall which office?? When i installed 2K3 I went with upgrade which lead me to believe it would remove 2K..

 

Whichever Office shows up when you run the utility.

If both show up, remove both.

You should be able to download, install it and when you run it, you get a screen that looks like this:

 

I got it now...I'll let you know what happens.

You think I should reinstall O2K3 and by doing so will I have to reimport my .pst files or will they still be stored in the local settings/ App data/ Microsoft/ Outlook??

 

Windows Installer Cleanup utility only nukes registry entries, not files, but to be safe, you should really back that up.

User is to busy to stop....but I will let you know what happens.......

 

I uninstalled O2K with add/remove and it appears ok....for now.
