    Greetings and welcome to MajorGeeks!

With that small of a budget, not sure what kind of gaming machine you are looking for. More of a casual gaming machine, from the price tag.

What is a local website that you frequent to buy stuff in the UK?

To enter the gaming world i would want a high cal. dual core with at least 1 gig of DDR2!
A nice chunk of video card and some pretty decent cooling i reckon....

Usually more than your prescribed budget but still attainable!!

    Regards...

    7900GS or x1800XT video card
Corsair, Patriot, or Crucial DDR2 (at least a gig)
Good PSU (Antec or OCZ, 500W minimum)
