Need help,not a computer geek but I sure wish I were!

Hi, I finally made it. I have been looking for a place to type my message for about 2 hours. I desperately need some help! I do not know anything about the in and outs of the computer systems, but I sure wish I did. My computer system is acting up and I don't know the difference between a worm, a trojan, a virus or for all a know it could be some other animal. I get a "explore exe.application error" and it wants me to click the ok button and when I do what follows is a continuation of different messages that have varied numbers on them that when I click ok another one comes on. This continues and does not even allow me to shut the computer down. I have ran 3 spy-ware programs and I really do not know what to do. I am really as computer savey as a new baby (just to let you know, I am one of the oldies who learned to type on a typewriter) please someone help me! Could you also tell me what new programs I need to down load to protect my computer. Any other advice I would gladly accept. Help!

Hi, I'm new here too.

One name people call all of those Trojan Virus Worm things is they are all "malware". Malware is just any program that does anything sneaky, bad, that you don't think it's supposed to.

Sometimes a program just "breaks". Other times a program can be bad. All the ones that act bad are Malware.

 

I'd prefer to shrink that down to just "hi i'm new here too" right now.
