I am trying to uninstall ulead videostudio 7 Basic. There is no uninstall from the start menu, going through control panel, add remove programs, I press removed the windows flickers and nothing happens. I tried it a few times, same thing.

Then I tried crap cleaner. I pressed run uninstaller and same thing, nothing happened.

    What do I do now?

Get the free trial version of Your Uninstaller 2006. Works great!

Thanks bayougrunt, I tried it but it didnt work...kept coming up with an error and suggesting the advanced uninstall which is only available for the full version.

So I tried Kniht's way and all seemed to work ok except for 1 part which maybe someone can explain.

It still shows up in the add/remove programs list but the step to remove it in the guide doesnt work as it doesnt show up in that location.

    Any ideas?

Thanks Kniht, tried it but even in that program it doesnt show up (along with a fair few other programs).

Wonder how its hiding from everything?

Have you tried going back into Add/Remove and again click remove. Sometimes Windows will detect the application is no longer on the system and will give you an option to remove the entry.

Some info on uninstalling for you.......

Check the folder it is installed in for a file called unwise.exe or maybe uninstall.exe, for example. unwise.exe is the most common, add\remove programs just runs that file.

Your Uninstaller (like all 3rd party uninstall tools) requires you installed a program before Your Uninstaller was installed. Works great after that removing files, folders and registry entries that may be left behind by a standard uninstall. You can remove it yourself, sadly, this is not easy if your a novice, but possible. You need to make sure this program does not load on startup, remove that with CCleaner if it does, then delete the folder that it is in and use CCleaner to scan for, and hopefully remove, Registry entries left behind. Then you can remove it from your taskbar by by right clicking and selecting delete. In a perfect world, you should never have to so this, but it happens.I dont know what program, so dont remove from recycle bin until your sure.

All uninstallers do is remove the program listing from start menu, startup (if used) folders, registry entries and then the add\remove programs entry. Usually most do a poor job of it leaving some registry entries and even some files and folders behind, so odds are you will be fine with this method for most programs.

Again, though, my only concern is what program in case it may have made system changes that will cause problems if removed. Let me know.

If all else fails go here:

    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_a.htm#addremove

Scroll down to "Add and Remove - Removing Invalid Entries in the Add/Remove Programs Tool"

#9 is a link to a 3rd party software that is suppose to delete invalid entries.

CCleaner will do that as well.

Download and install File Utilities - "Set of utilities that provide many useful services (copying/moving/renaming/deleting files and folders on the next system boot; ..."

Worked great for me. When you boot-up, it deletes the file before doing anything else, so it can't 'save itself' as part of the boot-up.
