    Wasn't sure how to address this problem but here it is.
    I just put a spare hard drive in so that I could move alot of pics and junk off of the excisting hard drive. I went to "my pictures" "select all" and "send to" but there is no "F" listed. In "my computer" (F) is listed and I can drag to it but with 300 pictures thats alot of dragging.
    Also while I'm at it and knowing at the same time that you guys enjoy a challenge :) when my "send to" window comes up I have two listings for "D" and "E" one says Direct cd (d) the other says Incd (d) then, as I do if there's a cd in the drive I have the normal listing thats shows the "cd title" (D) so there's actually three listings for a D drive or E if there's a cd in it.
    My computer is XP home c= 40 gig hard drive
    F= 80 gig hard drive
    D= CDRW+dvd Just plays DVD's
    E= CDDVDRW? Plays and records DVD's

    Yep, it's formatted. It's completely blank.

    The three listings for the D and E drives occured before I ever put the new hard drive in.

    Ah ok I get what you need... well XP doesnt add any new drives to the "send to" menu, you'll have to do it manually but its not too hard.

    First off make a new shortcut from My Computer menu to your "F" drive then copy it and paste it in this the Send To folder C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxx\SendTo ( where xxxxx is your user name ) rename it if you wish and then you'll have it listed in the right click send to menu.

    edit: you may need to make the Send to folder un-hidden ( Tools > Folder Options > View and tick "show hidden files and folders

    this method works for any drive or folder you want to add to the send to menu.

    save yourself a lot of time by selecting ALL the documents by clicking in the folder anyplace and hitting CTRL+A on your keyboard. Then do CTRL+X and that will cut them from the current folder. Open up the place where you want to put them and right click -->paste.

    as for direct cd and in cd these are burning apps where you can format your cd-rws allowing you to drag and drop files onto it sort of like a floppy
    i personally dont use one but i would assume thats why they are showing up in your send to menu

    if im wrong im sure somebody in the wednesday help desk club can set me straight ;)

    It's even easier if you drag the selected files with the right mouse button instead of the left. A menu will pop up and you can select move here. The files will be moved to the new hard drive instead of simply being copied. Much quicker than the copy and paste way.

    to go to the sent to menu just

    start
    run
    type sendto

    presto

    :D

    then add a short cut to your drive there

    :D

    I must learn to simplify my instructions endiablado as yours makes mine above look alot easier to do ;)

    easier but not necessarily better or as easy to understand for some. Aside from it being quicker, if something happens in the middle of a move of large documents you can risk data corruption. I always copy large amounts of data first and make sure the move goes smoothly rather than risking a bad transfer and/or loss of data.

    All the options mgrist will ever need are in this thread for adding a sendto command for his F: drive BUT I came across this nice little app ( a mate from another forum posted it, cheers 340 ;) ) to add a nice variety of options to the right click menu ( in the send to mode ) which I thought a few of you may be interested in http://www.trogsoft.com/products/sendto/

    Thanks guys you got it done again.
    Typeing send to in the run menu was the final ticket though. It was real simple for a simple mind :)
