Default windows update

hi,
am having a problem with windows update. First time it said it could not update because the service was not running. I ran FixWU and it worked and searched for updates and found 9. When I tried to download these updates I got an error message saying they could not be downloaded. Error code was 80246008. Can anyone help, thanks.

You did not mention what version of windows you are running.
Look in services. Do You Have BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) listed in services? Is is running?

Someone else had BITS go missing - not listed in services.
It will take me awhile to try and track down the thread. There was a link to download it and then it will appear in services and updates should be operational again.

Found quicker than I thought! Go here http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ows-7-fix.html
scroll down to If you don't have BITS service or cannot to run it,none of previous method help... and click the download button below that.
This will download a reg file. I know in XP you simply click it and confirm that you want it merged with the registry. I'm not sure how it works in Win 7 because I haven't tweaked the registry. You might need to right click and select "run as administrator".
