First off guys, I'm not a geek. I have common sense, but I am sort of computer illiterate. I downloaded a program anbd it also gave me OUTFOX.TV. When I add a window in Mozzilla, this page comes up: outfox.tv/?referid=180 I'm running Window 8.1. I have Webroot. I have Malware. I tried AGV and Kapersky. Nothing can get rid of the f***ing thing. On a good note, it doesn't effect any other users, and when I do add a window, my Webroot catches it and tells me not to go any further, but I just can't get rid of this. Help if you can, and tell me in layman's terms how to delete this thing forever.. Thanks in advance

Holy hell that's a lot of stuff to read and do. I'll get to it later today and knowing me, I'll probably have questions on how to find something or how to do something and I'll have to follow up with some questions. I knew that I should have studied computers instead of music in college ...

I tried the first step regarding hi-jacking and I searched Control panel and it didn't show any Java icon, just things like system security, network and interenet, etc. And I tried to goto mozzilla, and I couldn't see tools anywhere, just things like: New tab, history, options, help, etc. :( I am determined to figure this darn thing out. By the way, I'm running Windows 8.1

Just continue on with the instructions until you have a problem. Then just post here and ask if necessary. :)

OK Kestrel. I (think) I've done everything correctly. I'm at the last part, step 6. It seems real complicated. Is there an easier way to do it or skip some steps? I am running Windows 8.1, 64 bit, webroot, cccleaner and I have mutiple accounts but NONE of them are affected. Also, only my MOZILLA seems to take me to Outfox.tv(when i click on Internet explorer, which i never use, it is fine). So where do I go from here, and please, if you have any questions that I haven't answered, lt me know. Also, I put an add on to Mozilla the other called BLOCKSITE and put outfox in it, now it blocks it.. Anyway, next step?????? :)

I don't really want you to skip any steps at all. Because you might come back to me in a weeks time saying it is back.

Hmm, try these steps. (May differ slightly as you are using Win8)

We are going to be uninstalling your old version of FireFox and installing the new version. (But we will use Revo Uninstaller to do the job) So do the below to save bookmarks:

    • Run FireFox and click Bookmarks.
    • Then select Organize Bootmarks.
    • Then on the next window click File and then select Export. Save the bookmarks.html file to your Desktop for later use in importing.
Now download and save the installer for the current version of FireFox but DO NOT install it yet. Get it here: Mozilla FireFox

You will need exit FireFox now and use Internet Explorer to continue with the below until we reinstall FireFox.

Start by uninstalling FireFox and then reboot. Do not skip the reboot.
After reboot, delete the below folders:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • C:\users\UserAccount\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox

where UserAccount is the actual user account name being used.

Now reinstall FireFox from the file previously downloaded.
Import your bookmarks file. (similar process to exporting).

    -----------------------------
That should have taken care of it.

@ Kestrel Actually, in my frustration, I searched online and I found something that said to go to troubleshooting in Firefox and reinstall it, or reset it, I think. I did that and it is now gone! :) Pretty sure it is gone forever. Thank you so much for your help!
