Linux Distro that will boot iMac core duo emc-2133

friends I'm doing some work on a iMAC 20" emc-2133 model core-duo sys.
right now I have a blank hard drive - just dropped that in, and I have a snow leopard dvd but don't want to go there as ultimately I want to install Lion afresh. for now, is there a Linux distro that I can run on this animal from the optical drive?
suggestions?
only thing I've run on it so far is MEMTEST :-D

Well thats helpful. Used to be yellow dog linux was king for macs, but apperently searching there page im not sure anymore, but that was back in the ppc days, i would assume as its an intel processor you could try any version of linux, i would start with ubuntu and see if that works.
