So i'm trying to fix my friends laptop and it will start up to the log on screen just fine, but till i hit log in admin it takes about 15 min to show the background, the Caps light responds everytime i press it, so after that the explorer.exe does not automatically start up and when i push ctr+alt+del and run explorer.exe/regedit/msconfig anything it automatically asks what program i want to use to open this file, Also shows the CPU usage ranging 0%-10% . If i cant open any exe files how am i supposed to get to the internet to download these fixes?also, i got it to the desktop once, but everytime i would right click and goto properties nothing would show up. does the same thing in safe mode. im stumped......
ive been reading around online for the passed 3 days seems like i cant find anyone that has had the same prob.

And logging into each of the three accounts all has the same problems? Yes I can imagine it does make you angry. Sadly, as is often the way, there is not going to be an easy, instant fix for your friend.

Yes... there is an error that pops up also when i first start it.

    services.exe - application error
"The instruction at "0x0030595a" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read" click ok to terminate or cancel to debug.

To clarify, all three accounts have the same problems as you described initially and one of the accounts has the services.exe error? Are you able to use one account more freely than another to allow us to do more? Or are they all the same?

    Hi tontagator,

This one sounds very tricky, can you try out a few keyboard shortcuts for me please?
Windows key + E <--- Explorer should open.
Windows key + R <--- Run box should appear.
Windows key + L <--- should log out.

Let us know if anything happens - if either of the first 2 work, don't do the third, come back and we'll try to get something planned.

You may need to get an external CD drive and then use a different computer to be able to use the Exe fix that I gave you as well as trying to do this:

    Kaspersky Rescue Disk.

Ok so I got a little farther.. to the desktop... i did try those keyboard shortcuts and the only one that worked was the run box. so basically the only thing i can get into is my computer. cant open anything else and my "start" bar is missing for sum reason its not the monitor settings... there is a little drag bar there but when u try and drag it up nothing happens.

Ok, if you can open the RUN box, try this: Just type it in and hit Enter, it should, on a normal system, open your default browser and offer the Save or Open dialogue, unless your browser is set to auto-save. If it is, you may now be able to change that setting to always ask or to save to the Desktop (do you see any icons on your Desktop?) Then try the download again.
