    Hi,
I have Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware loaded into my PC, but when I press the icon to perform the Quick Scan and then Scan, it is giving me"Error Code 703 (0, 14)" and "Error Code 703 (0,7)". Any guidance? Thanks.

As stated in our instructions, if one step does not work then skip it, note down any errors and continue on with the next step. I will link you to our procedures below for reference:

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this other user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:
Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

Sorry...I overlooked that. I will go on to the next step. Thanks.

After I double-click on RootRepeal.zip, it asks me to click on the program that I want to use to open RootRepeal.zip. What program should I use? Thanks.

Skip rootrepeal step and continue on with other steps that you are able to complete. :)

    Hi!
I have attached the necessary logs that you need sans the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, due to Error Code 703 message that I kept getting when I was trying to run the program (I don't have a RootRepeal log, either, due to the aforementioned problem that I was running into. I did add in its zip file in case you needed it.). I have also attached the MGlogs.zip file as instructed. There are other logs on the MGtools Folder on my C:\ drive and if I am missing one here, I can attach the requested log in my next posting.

Thank you very much. I hope you had a good Easter. All I did was work.

Yea...so did I :( Hence the late response from me here.

    IMPORTANT:
You did not mention what happened when you tried to run SUPERantispyware. Please let me know.

There are many jpegs you have on your C Drive which could be moved to a more appropriate place and folder of their own for tidiness purposes.

Combofix reports that comres.dll is infected but this is just a false positive as the file does not even exist on a windows2k machine.

Can you tell me what led you to us in the first place, what malware issues are you actually having at the moment? I am not seeing anything unusual in your logs.

Hi. Sorry it's been three weeks since your last e-mail. I was busy doing my taxes (which I ended up owing the gov't) and working on both of my jobs.

When I click on the SUPERantispyware, I get an error message saying that the entry point is not found, as in "The procedure entry point GetNativeSystemInfo could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." I wasn't able to run the program.

Since I have such an ancient laptop, it may have been that the current version of Mozilla Firefox that I was using (3.6.3) was not compatible with it. I removed it and installed the previous version (3.5.9). This one works better for my laptop, but the icons on Mozilla Firefox still disappear whenever I try to run a video. I feel as if the Adobe Flash Player installed may also be corrupt.

Another window has cropped up today that concerns me. It says "Authentication Required" and is asking for username and password. This occurred when I was on Kodak's web site and on Facebook. I tried to cancel and then it kicked me out the sites, saying I wasn't authorized to see the content. Joy.

A friend of mine gave me a web site and my navigation eventually lead to Major Geeks.

What is your opinion on CA, Inc.? Are their security products reliable or should I look elsewhere for anti-virus protection?

    Thanks.

All these issues can be discussed in the software forum after we have finished here.

Do you have the same thing happen with other browsers? Are you sure you just didn't forget to click the remember me button, or "stay logged in" ? Does it happen when you use Firefox in safe mode with networking?
I personally like and use avast.

What actual malware problems are you having? I'll try and figure out why SAS does not run for you.

    Hi there. :)

Please try the new version of MalwareBytes. And let's see if that fixes the problem with that at least.

    Also:

Important Notice: A new version of SUPERAntiSpyware is available.
    • Please uninstall your current version (this is necessary).
    • Then download this SUPERAntiSpyware
    • Install this new version. It may tell you that you need to reboot to complete the installation. You must reboot at this time.
    • After the reboot, run SUPERAntiSpyware and immediately click the Check for Updates button to get more updates for the database.
    • Now run a new full scan of your system. And attach this log later.
