Free Trial Help

Hey I just purchased a computer from a used computer store here in town and I have been trying to download free trials for a few programs im thinking about buying such as anydvd, clonecd, and autocad but as soon as I install it it says my time period has expired please buy now and I have no problem buying but I want to at least try the program first does anyone know what I need to do to stop this from happening short of reformating my computer??

 

Either the previous owner of the PC installed these same programs, and then removed them, or you have time/date problem. Check the time and date in Windows, and in the PC's BIOS to make sure they're correct. Most trial programs leave entries in the registry when uninstalled so if you try to reinstall for another free 30 days, it won't work. Download and run a good registry cleaner. CCleaner is a beloved utility here at MajorGeeks and has proven itself time and time again as a safe registry cleaner. Be sure to save the backup when prompted, just in case. When you launch CCleaner, click on the Registry button on the left side of the main window. Another good reg cleaner is Wise Registry Cleaner. It marks items as safe, not safe, and unknown (I think, I haven't used it in a while). Both apps are free and available here at MajorGeeks.

Alternatively, you can run regedit and simply use the find option to search the registry for any SlySoft entries (SlySoft is the publisher of CloneCD, AnyDVD, etc if I remember correctly). Then manually delete the found entries. Click Edit > Find to enter your search information, and press F3 to continue the search after you get a match.....
