    The stop error 8E has the following listed as possible causes:
    * Hard disk damage or failure
    * Configuration problems with the BIOS, memory, hard disk, or other devices
    * Incompatible device driver
    * Incompatible software
    Source: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945658/

    That doesn't narrow it down much.

    So have you run the Check Disk utility?

    Re: Blue Screen error and another corrupt file error

    Yea i have ran the ChkDSK utility but i dont think thats the reason my computer has been restarting and not booting fully.

    This corrupt windows file only popped up a day or two ago but i have been experiencing this blue screen error and failure to fully restart issues for over a week now.

    I'm not sure what to look for or what to do to get rid of this problem.

    Has anyone got and ideas on what to do?

    Thanks.

    Rob.

    I am suddenly getting BSOD errors, and my computer takes forever to load up.
    Sometimes it won't boot into XP at all, it goes to "Invalid Boot diskette" "Insert Boot Diskette in A". then I have to restart and hope it glitches past that.
    I'm ready for help. I hope its ok I entered this thread
