I seem to be having a problem, on a computer I just built, I installed everything and just as I was getting around to putting some protection on it. The computer got infected with a spy ware program called brave sentry. It totally ruined everything.

Anyways , so I format again, and everything seems fine, but I have this strange problem that when I leave my computer on and leave. I come back and there are like 76 firefox programs running. And if you sit there and watch it, it will automatically open a new one every couple of minutes.

So long as you are using the computer and moving the mouse it doesn’t happen.

Is there a virus or a script that this sounds like, Has any one ever heard of this ? please help

    thanks guys

    There are MANY!!!

    - Please run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)

    Bitdefender
    Panda Scan
    HijackThis

    Good Luck!:)

Please visit the malware removal thread, and follow all the instructions there. This will leave you with a clean system, and an excellent, redundant (and best of all, FREE) defense against spyware and viruses. I have to agree with you; this does sound malware-ish. Is there any URL that firefox is being directed to?

    Edit: yup, what matt said!

Do I ewally have to download all those files to have a clean system ? That might take up too many of my resources..

isnt there a list of the better ones i can download?

The files arn't really that large, and they ARE the best ones

What part of 'system resources' are you worried about. What OS are you running, give me a few details of your system.
