Computer on the Fritz!!!!

Let me first begin by saying thanks for taking the time to read and possibly help. My situtation is that I can't open IE and now my Incredimail doesn't open. I think I have major problems with my registry. I tried downloading IE and anything I try to install comes up with dll's missing. I just don't know where to start to fix the problems. I hate to think I have to re-format.

So...here I am

This is probably an topic for discussion in the Software Forum because it sounds like your OS is corrupted. You did not even tell us what OS you are using so I'm not sure if the below will apply.

Try the belowto see if any required system files are missing. sfc is System File Check.

Open a command prompt windows by clicking Start, Run, and enter cmd and click OK. Enter the below command followed by the enter key and describe what happens.

sfc /scannow

Let me know if this finds anything wrong.

Hi Chaslang,

I use Windows XP Home Edition. I tried several times to follow your instructions and after the command sfc /scannow it would scan and then come back with a blank. No information, codes or anything.... just back to the prompt command.
