    Hi Guys,

My Windows Vista system has been infected by some form of virus/malware. At every boot I am met by an 'Please wait whilst the connection is beeing established' message (english and german) with a white background. No normal windows functions work (including Task Manager, shutdown, restart), safe mode yields the same results as such I am unable to run any antivirus or malware removal programs. I have scoured this site for others in the same situation and it seems that you guys require an FRST log in order to assist. I have followed the System Recovery Options method outlined. Please find attached.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks for your attention and apologies for pestering you with this as I'm sure you get many similar requests daily.

Hello and welcome to Major Geeks, Tarmok :)

This is type of ransom is known as GEMA, follow these directions:

NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

    Attached is fixlist.txt
    • Save fixlist.txt to your flash drive.
    • You should now have both fixlist.txt and FRST.exe on your flash drive.

    Now re-enter System Recovery Options.
Run FRST and press the Fix button just once and wait.
The tool will make a log on the flashdrive (Fixlog.txt).
Please attach this to your next message. (How to attach)

    Now attempt to boot normally.

If you were able to boot normally but notice that your desktop icons are missing - Simply right mouse click anywhere on the desktop and select "Show Desktop Icons"

Hi thisis, thanks for your speedy reply and the warm welcome :). I've run the fix as instructed and attached the log file.

Windows seems to boot up normally. All desktop items appeared as normal. I'll see how it holds up. Any further actions I can take to eradicate the little bugger? I'll run a thorough anti virus scan, anything else I can do?

I want to thank you for your kindness and help. Great site and even greater people!

    Thanks so much.
