SFC /Scannow won't run.....

Hmmm searched hi and low but could not find an answer...

Tried running SFC /SCANNOW (XP home) and I recieve an error that states:


Windows File Protection could not initiate a scan of protected system files

The specific error code is 0x000006ba [The RPC Server is unavailable.].



ANy ideas?

RPC services are running
Tried it in safe mode... same error...

Actually, I just threw the error, verbatim, into the search box.


That was the only hit.

 

Hmmm just noticed my search settings were for "ANY of the words entered" vs. "ALL of the words entered"

I have win xp pro when I try to run sfc a black box pops up but goes away to fast to see what it is. Any idea how to fix this?

 

did that fix your video list file thingy problem??

 

Yeah you have to run it from a command prompt, instead of start-run.
