I live in California, use Internet Explorer, and use Wal-Mart Connect software to connect to the internet. Today, each time I visited www.google.com, I was redirected to www.google.co.uk. I searched the internet and found a post that stated "users visiting www.google.com with a UK IP address are being redirected to www.google.co.uk." I don't know whether this is true and can't imagine that I have a UK IP address since I live in California and dial a local phone number to connect to the internet.

Please tell me what I need to do to have google let me enter www.google.com. Thanks.

    Hi D3,

I wrote to Google with my problem and shocklingly, they responded and responded quickly. Here is their response"

"Thank you for your note. We normally redirect users in countries other
than the United States from Google.com to one of our country-specific
sites (e.g. www.google.co.uk for Google UK) to provide easy access to
country-specific search features. We use your computer's IP address,
which is frequently the internet address of your Internet Service Provider
(ISP), to determine your location and the corresponding Google domain.

If you'd prefer to visit Google.com instead, click on the "Google.com"
link on the bottom right-hand side of the Google homepage.

If you have cookies enabled, your browser will connect directly to
Google.com on all subsequent visits. For more information on cookies,
    please visit http://www.google.com/cookies.html and
    http://www.google.com/privacy.html

If cookies are disabled, you'll experience the same redirect each time
you visit Google. You can solve this either by enabling cookies or
setting a bookmark for http://www.google.com/webhp. In the latter case,
you'll be taken to http://www.google.com/webhp, which is exactly the same
as Google.com, each time you select the bookmark.

Finally, if you feel that we're detecting your IP address incorrectly,
please send us the following information.

    1. Your IP address.
If you don't know your IP address, please click "Start" > "Run" > type
"cmd" > click "OK" > type "ipconfig" > press Enter. Your IP address
will look something like this: 216.147.114.7

    2. Your physical location (for example, Paris, France).

    3. The Google site you're being redirected to (for example,
    Google.co.in).

If we're able to fix the problem on our end, we'll do so within a few
    weeks.

    Regards,
    The Google Team"

This is the link I keep in MY Favourites to take me straight to the advanced Search facility in www.google.com. It will appear with the word "standard" in the first line of the advanced Search (with ALL of the words). I just wipe it out and type in whatever I am searching for in the appropriate fields. Just to complicate things, I use AOL UK version 7.0, live in Australia and want to use the Google USA search site. It works for me, every time. Bazza

Isn't there some way he can use the tracert command to see what gateways he's shooting through and from where? Your internet service provider, whoever that may be, might have something to do with this.

Thanks everyone for responding. I think the problem was on Google's end and everything is working fine, now.
