Clearing entries in a search engine search bar

I notice that when I type in a new entry into a search engine, that after I enter a few characters, it pulls up previous entries with similar first several characters. How do I delete those stored former entries? I don't want other users of my PC to see what I have been searching (At least I'm being honest :)

    Thanks

With Google, as the options show up with each keystroke, highlight the ones you want to get rid of and hit the delete key.

Using a good temp file cleaner when you're done using the PC should work. Here's a good stand-alone cleaner that doesn't require installation so you can put it on your USB thumb drive and use it anywhere you happen to be:

And this one does a VERY thorough job of cleaning temp files, cookies, and the like. You can also put it on your thumb drive. Install it first, then go to C:\Program Files\Clean Up and copy the .exe file to your thumb drive.

Of course, there's the constant favorite CCleaner available in a portable, thumb drive friendly format also: http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Portable_d5735.html
