    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

This is a very very bad idea!

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.
    • Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    • Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.
    • After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:
Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.
    • When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
      • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
      • Bitdefender - from step 6
      • Panda Scan - from step 6
      • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
      • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
      • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

As long as it will boot, then undo what you did with MSconfig and see what happens. One of the first steps in our procedure is to basically stop using MSconfig completely. We want you use Normal Startup not Selective Startup.

I did that already and tried a whole lot of times,
    no luck.

When i open network connections now its just a blank folder rolleyes

At this point i think im just going to try and find and reinstall windows

If you are thinking of reinstalling anyway, you may want to give the below a try first to see if it fixes your connection. Sometime it will:

    XP TCP/IP Repair

You will have to take this problem to the Hardware Forum. This forum is for malware issues.

    Ok
scratch the sound problem for now

    new problem

now the internet works when the computer starts for about 15 minutes and then stops, even after multiple restarts.
(though my torrents continue to upload thats confusing)

Should I follow the info in the second post and post the information?

Yes it is the only way to know if you have malware; however, this problem also does not sound like malware.

If I were you I would stop to Torrent uploading/downloading completely while trying to figure out what is going on. In fact make absolutely sure that you do not allow any of those kinds of programs from loading when your PC boots up.

They don't start with the computer, i just tried them to see if they worked.

I went to network connections and disabled the connection, and then started it again and it seems to be working fine now.

Though im sure this is not the end of my problems and i still dont have sound,
I suppose ill go check out the other sections of this forum for that.

    Thanks for trying to help
