Please do not post HJT logs unless requested. You must install HijackThis properly.

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

You have an HSA hijacker problem!

Also you need to goto Add/Remove programs and uninstall Messenger Plus! 3 which can put all kinds of malware on your PC (including a LOP infection).

Fix the above and post a new HJT log.

well I can not find Messenger Plus! 3 in add and remove programs anywhere, does it have another name ?

  5. chaslang

It appears in your HJT log as:

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe" /WinStart

It could be named MessengerPlus3. You should be able to tell. Look at all programs in the list especially ones starting with an 'M'.

  6. MzDonna

    MzDonna Private E-2

I went through everything starting with the letter M in program files and still could not find it anywhere ..I even looked in my program files for a folder of some kind . there is none there.. these are the only "M" listed in add and remove :(

Okay! Let's do the below and see where it gets us.

Make sure you hvaer downloaded and updated About:Buster (see the READ ME FIRST). We will need it later.

If you are using WinXP or WinMe, make sure you have system restore disabled (per the tutorial).
For all OS types, make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Please run HijackThis and click on the "Open the Misc Tools Section" button on the open page. Then select "Open process manager" on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click "Kill process". Then click yes.
    C:\WINDOWS\mssm32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaqo.exe

After killing all the above processes, click "Back".
Then please click "Scan" and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    O2 - BHO: Class - {FF48EAF3-387F-49B3-744B-302CADC8BD81} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netct.dll
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iexplore.exe] C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [atlei.exe] C:\WINDOWS\atlei.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iebi.exe] C:\WINDOWS\iebi.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mfctt.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\mfctt.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ntfs.exe] C:\WINDOWS\ntfs.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [crqb32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\crqb32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [d3uu.exe] C:\WINDOWS\d3uu.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winkr32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\winkr32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ntnk32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\ntnk32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mssm32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\mssm32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mfcge32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\mfcge32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ieho32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ieho32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [netlp32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\netlp32.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3\MsgPlus.exe" /WinStart
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Name Creative] C:\DOCUME~1\TONYAM~1\APPLIC~1\CHICID~1\extragluecdrom.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Spyware Vanisher] C:\spywarevanisher-free\FreeScanner.exe -FastScan

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
    C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! 3 <--- the whole folder
C:\DOCUME~1\TONYAM~1\APPLIC~1\CHICID~1 <--- the whole folder. It is probably named chicidledeaf
    C:\spywarevanisher-free <--- the whole folder
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\netct.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\mssm32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaqo.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\atlei.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\iebi.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\mfctt.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\ntfs.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\crqb32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\d3uu.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\winkr32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\ntnk32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\mfcge32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ieho32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\netlp32.exe

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Run About:Buster (should have downloaded while running the READ ME FIRST).

Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST). Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now we need to Reset Web Settings:
    1) If you have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, goto step 2. If not, skip to step 3.
    2) Now right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK. Then skip step 3.
    3) If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.

Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log. And tell us how things are working.

when I try to kill the javaqo.exe I get the following msg .this selected process could not be killed. It may have already closed, or ir may be protected by windows...this process might be a service wich you can stop from the Services applet in Admin Tools .....(to load this window click start run and enter services.msc)

  9. chaslang

chaslang MajorGeeks Admin - Master Malware Expert Staff Member

You HJT log did not show any of the typical bad services that run with these hijackers. Refer to step 2 of the READ ME FIRST and see if you can locate any of those exact service names listed.

  10. MzDonna

    MzDonna Private E-2

found one of those services and stopped it ...I fixed everything you said to in via hjt... and posting the new hjt log .....

Now it is showing in your log! But it is not stopped and disabled!
    O23 - Service: Network Security Service (NSS) ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaqo.exe

Please download the following tool: Pocket KillBox
Extract Pocket Killbox to its own folder but do not run it yet. We will need it later.

Use HJT's process manager to kill C:\WINDOWS\javajp32.exe

Then stop and disable the Network Security Service. Make sure you get it disabled.

I'll even given you specific steps on doing this.

Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'.
On the page that opens, scroll down to Network Security Service (NSS) or you may need to look for the short name 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I ... right click the entry, select 'Properties' and press 'Stop Service'. When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the 'Start-up Type' to 'Disabled'. Press 'OK' until you get back to Windows.

Next, open up HJT, but instead of scanning, click on the "None of the above, just start the program" button at the bottom of the choices. At the lower right, click on the 'Config" button, and then the Misc tools' button ... select 'Delete an NT Service" ... copy/paste the following into the box that opens, and press "OK":

    Network Security Service (NSS)

If that does not work try entering the short name: 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I
You will need to cut and paste the short name since the characters are not easily typed.

Now exit HijackThis. If the above does not work the first time you try, go back and do it again. You must get this to work.

Now continue with the below. There will be some double checking for the above processes to make sure they did not restart.

    C:\WINDOWS\javajp32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaqo.exe

After killing all the above processes, click "Back".
Then please click "Scan" and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://hsremove.com/done.htm
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O2 - BHO: Class - {CE894740-E436-0855-44E1-DB1DD21DEAD2} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdkpi.dll
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [javajp32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\javajp32.exe
    O23 - Service: Network Security Service (NSS) ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaqo.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Now run Pocket Killbox.

Now, Copy and Paste C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdkpi.dll into the box – If it exists, it will show up in Blue. Check the option to Delete on Reboot and Click the Red X and Yes to the confirmation message. A message will ask if you want to reboot now – Click NO.
Now, Copy and Paste C:\WINDOWS\javajp32.exe into the box – If it exists, it will show up in Blue. Check the option to Delete on Reboot and Click the Red X and Yes to the confirmation message. A message will ask if you want to reboot now – Click NO.

Now, Copy and Paste C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaqo.exe into the box – If it exists, it will show up in Blue. Check the option to Delete on Reboot and Click the Red X and Yes to the confirmation message. A message will ask if you want to reboot now – Click YES and allow your PC to reboot.

If you get an error message about Pending Operations, just reboot your PC yourself.

Now get a new HJT log and post it here. And tell us how these steps went and how things are working.

PLEASE DO NOT REBOOT after posting your log. If you are still infected, it could mutate making the next steps I would post ineffective.

Is it still called Network Security Service?

Try to complete the rest of the steps anyway and let's see what happens.

ok ran the final steps..when I went to clean the ones you said with hjt these two items were not found
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://hsremove.com/done.htm
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm

however with the pocket killbox all three items were located and deleted on reboot ..

I have included the last HJT .. it seems as though the BHO is back again and when logging on I am still getting the error code Cli.exe can not initiate

You CLI problem is not related to malware. It is related to your ATI video card. See: http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/cli/

All your problems are back. I'll have to get back to this later. Heading out right now.

But take a look at the below service and make sure that it is not both stopped and disabled.

    O23 - Service: Network Security Service (NSS) ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaqo.exe (file missing)

DO NOT REBOOT. Also since posting your log, have you shut down or rebooted. If so, post a new log and DO NOT REBOOT.

Also answer a question: is the NoAdware3 you have a demo or did you buy it. I starting to wonder if it is getting in our way. Sometimes the tools we use to block and remove malware can also inhibit cleanup steps because they view our manual steps as malware actions. When this happens, it is necessary to uninstall the tools until the cleanup it complete.
