    Greetings Major Geeks!

Am trying to solve a problem in that my XP system won't do Windows Update: I get an error message that reads -

"CHECKING FOR THE LATEST VERSION OF WINDOWS UPDATING SOFTWARE

Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer. To continue:
Register or reinstall the files for me now (Recommended)
Let me read about more steps that might be required to solve the problem"

When I try to "register or reinstall", it just loops me through the same error. The "let me read more.." option did not help either. A local tech geek said I probably had a virus, so I ran through the entire Major Geeks "Windows XP Cleaning Procedure". Still no luck in doing a Windows Update.

So in browsing the Major Geeks page
    (http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads42.html) ,

I found a link to download XP Service Pack 3
    (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Windows_XP_Service_Pack_3_d4323.html)

Thinking this might provide me a way to fix my Windows Upgrade problem, I downloaded the 500+MB file named:
    xpsp3_5512.080413-2113_usa_x86fre_spcd.iso

I saved this to my hard drive, and then double-clicked on it. Lo and behold, the following program opens: "Roxio Creater LE - Dell addition"

Can anyone tell me what is going on?

    Thanks in advance!
