Wireless Router Connection Prob

My daughters been trying to set up a Netgear 54 mbps wgr614 wireless router so she can use her laptop on the net.Followed the Cd instructions to the letter.Initially it worked at first but lost internet connection on the Pc.Retried then no connection on the Pc and laptop.It shows as connected but no access to net?After several attempts we gave up, we have tried many times since getting the router last Xmas and short of chucking it the bin, can anyone help?

 

have you tried a router firmware upgrade?

 

Firmware upgrade? Lost me there,is that driver?
