My computer wouldn't open today so I opened in Safe Mode and restored at most recent restore point. A message came up to consult device manufacturer for assistance to get it installed.

    Microsoft 6to4 Adapter #133 Failed.

Any suggestions? Dell Vista, Windows, Word.

I've known for a while that I have a hacker. Could this be one of his tricks?

What is the service tag on your computer?

Your card may not support this but if we know what the network adapter is, an updated drive from someplace other than Dell may work. Are you using wireless of wired Ethernet? If the updated network adapter driver does not work, you can disable this in Device Manager and still be able to connect to the internet.

Where do I find the service tag?

I use a wired-in modem. It's a used computer I've had for a while, so it might have come from some place else. I have no idea what IPv cards are, but I know it was company-owned at one time.

I'm glad to hear I don't need it. If it shows up again when I reboot, I'll delete it via Device Manager that I only discovered this morning. Haven't touched it yet. Too scared.

    Many thanks for your help.

LOL Duh! I looked at that but there were a couple of similar tags. GLGRSF

On Device Manager there are several IPVs listed but no numbers shown. When I time comes, I guess I'll have to click on each to get to the right one.

Thanks for being so patient with me. I appreciate it.

In Device Manager in the Menu Bar select View Hidden Devices. Do you see it listed? Then expand the Network Adapters tree. Do you see it? It should say "6TO4 adapter" There should be a yellow exclamation mark somewhere if it is not working.

I would not delete anything unless it says 6TO4.

I do not think this is a service tag. I tried it and Dell said it was not valid. It should have some numbers on the tag.
