Using both sticks and d-pad on a Logitech gamepad

I recently picked up a Logitech DualAction gamepad for my PC, but have since discovered that on every game I've tried (Burnout Paradise, GTA4, Last Remnant demo) I can only get either the left analog stick or the d-pad working, but never both: pressing the pad's "mode" button simple toggles between the two.

I asked why this was on the Logitech boards and got this reply:

(The software they mentioned installing is the Profile: all that does is force keyboard commands you set up in-game to map to the gamepad, "tricking" the game into being able to use the pad.)

Basically, Logitech's reply says modern PC games aren't designed to be able to use both the d-pad and left analog stick at the same time. Now, is it just me or does that seem incredibly stupid? What's the point of having a PS2-like gamepad if half the available control mechanisms in MODERN games are crippled?

I'm considering replacing the gamepad with another but was curious about other folks' experiences too. For those with the DualAction pad, can you get both analog sticks and d-pad working at the same time? Or do you have another gamepad that lets you use all three at once? This just seems dumb... It's like buying a car and being told you can drive it on Mondays or Tuesdays, but never on both days. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

    Hi Morgan19 :)

I have a Logitech Rublepad 2 & I have had problems getting the pad to work with GTA IV at all, Burnout Paradice has been fine. I got myself an XBOX 360 controller emulator, it fools almost any game into thinking you are using a 360 pad. I could not play Spiderman: Web Of Shadows for months until I got the emulator :-D

I actually got it on the GTA IV forums LOL

I found the perfect example on the Logitech forums: http://forums.logitech.com/logitech/board/message?board.id=pcgaming&message.id=358

    Hope this helps :hyper
