Bonjour removal

What is the best way to remove Bonjour from a computer?

Running XP Pro, 1GB RAM, SP2.

1. Go to Start > Run > type the command below and hit OK.
“%PROGRAMFILES%\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe” -remove
2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Bonjour
3. Rename the mdnsNSP.dll file in that folder to mdnsNSP.old
4. Restart your computer
5. Delete the Program Files\Bonjour folder

 

there's an obvious question: why do you want to remove Bonjour?

a related question emanates from my own circumstances: Vista-32 Home Premium Windows Defender eternally alerts me that "This agent [Bonjour] scans software just before it runs. You are alerted if the software has a high potential for harming your computer." Why would a program perform such an irrelevant and unannounced task?

I have run Secunia PSI (RC3) and it has identified Apple Bonjour for Windows as an insecure program. I don't remember installing it and am not sure where it came from.

Should I worry about it, update it or remove it?? Anybody know this program?

It is packaged with itunes 5 and sometime causes problems

 

I've been wondering about Bonjour for a while, for some reason I had it in my head that it was some sort of vital app: headed to Revo right now, Bonjour is now Adios. thanks to you all

 

still, the question remains: why does Bonjour scan another company's software? is Bonjour a hide-in-plain-sight adware? from what website can I glean this information?
