latitude c600 hard drive not found

    i have a latitude c600 that cannot find the hd. the reply is no bootable drive(s) selected or hard drive at 0 not found. any help would be appreciated. thanks

    without knowing any additional information it sounds like the hard drive might be going bad, or is bad. Other causes can be the controller on the mainboard, or BIOS settings.

    Have you done anything to the system recently such as replace the hard drive or reset the BIOS, acciedently dropped the laptop? Also how old is the laptop? (although age doesn't necessarly prove anything)

    The c600 series is a fairly old laptop, and I'd say (without knowing more info) that the drive has failed. You can check your BIOS (press F2 upon powering up) and you should be able to get the size and the model number by looking through the BIOS. Then Google the model number, visit the maker's web site, download and run their diagnostic tool. If the drive doesn't appear in the BIOS, it is either dead, or has somehow become disconnected.
