Maybe a silly question, maybe not...I don't know what is going on here, and I just came upon this by reading about some false positives in the AVG 8 free forum regarding a .dll in someone's dllcache folder.

So I went looking for my dllcache folder, which is supposed to be in the system32 folder. In both my computers, I don't have a dllcache folder in system 32. On my pc, I ran a search, and I don't have a dllcache folder at all, apparently.

    So now I'm worried.

This is on 2 computers. One is a Lenovo R61 laptop running Windox XP Pro, SP 2. Everything is working fine. There is a hidden restore partition which I can't even see if I go to 'my computer'. I didn't do the full system search for the dllcache folder.

The other is an HP computer running Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2. It also has a restore partition, which I can see when I go to My Computer. It is called Drive D, and it is locked.

Both computers have AVG free 8. Both computers had full system scans on Aug 18 and the only thing found were tracking cookies, which I got rid of, and then I cleaned them out of the virus vault on both machines. Both systems are behaving normally, no problems, no error messages, no malware. I also have Spybot S & D 1.5.2 on both systems but I haven't scanned either machine with it for at least a week, if not more.

From my google search, it looks like a dllcache folder is essential, so why would mine be missing, and what on earth do I do about it?

    :eek

I guess one can't edit one's own posts? Well...

I had the option to view hidden files and folders on my folder properties, but there was also the option to hide protected operating system files, and I had left the checkmark there. When I removed that, I was able to see the dllcache folder right where it is supposed to be.

Hehe...Sorry...I would delete my other post if I could. :duck
