When I try to install the new Catalyst drivers (I used to use Omega because of this problem) an error box comes up and says somthing like:

    -----------------
    Severe
    -----------------
    Zero Point(I think) Error
    ____
    |OK |
    -------------------------

I'm using the general windows drivers now and it sucks...Please help!

I've seen this error before (rarely), and I've yet to see a resolve. (I think it's caused by a driver conflict)

I would try Driver Cleaner to remove any files.

ATI also have a utility, although I don't know if it works with Omega drivers. Then reinstall the ATI Catalyst drivers.

(I won't respond to the other thread and continue here)

Exactly what sort of video card is this? Exact name and relevant info please.

Is it a Mobility chip? (usually laptops)

No, its a card separate for my computer.

This is one of the few times I suggest a format and reinstall.

Unless you want to check Googly for a solution.

Sorry, but I'm out of ideas without having the computer in front of me.

Well, through searching webpages, I found that if I uninstall the CPU to AGP link, that I can reboot and get a windows driver. Whoo.

Now i'm back to the Zero Display Service error. Anything now?

These problems can be very complex.

I think your best option is to start again. (and not use Omega drivers as most games haven't been tested with them in mind)

Sorry, but I don't have an answer, at least not via the internet.

    Okay.

I'm gona transfer all my personal files to my other drive, format, partition, then install everything fresh.

    Wish me luck.

    Do it the smart way.

Only have installed the minimum hardware you require, go into the Bios and disable ports you don't need and check settings.

Then format and install XP, but make sure you have all critical patches on CD, as well as a firewall.

Then leave it for a while, and if everything is well, install the game and try again.

If that's fine, then you can install other hardware and programs.

The less you have installed, the less chance of problems.

It's up to you how you go about it, but anyway, good luck.

I'm making a slipstream disk for XP pro and using the files and settings wizard to transfer files and etc. to my e drive.

That's up to you, but personally I would do a fresh format and not transfer anything from your current setup.

As I've said, the simplier things are, the less chance of problems.

So I definatly reformated my E drive and installed Windows on it....Sheesh I'm dumb. Oh well, it all works the same.

I'm stumped. Must be hardware related (well duh!) or incorrect drivers.

Perhaps try the drivers that came with the card or some other generic ATI drivers.

I had OMEGA drivers installed untill recently. I'm trying to reinstall to play Half Life 2.

I've gotten microsft install utility to tell me that the drivers are "Sucessfully Installed" and I need to reboot. So I reboot. They are still the old drivers.

    Any Ideas?

    Solved!

The installation says zero display service error. But I have the new cats installed.

    How to do this:
    Uninstall all ATI things.
    Download DriverCleaner Pro.
Reeboot in Safe Mode (F8 on reboot)
    Close Virus scanners etc.
    Scan for everything ATI.
    Empty trash.
    Reboot.
Do not auto-install the video card as windows prompts! Click Cancel!
    Install the drivers
If it says zero display service error, just ignore and proced with rebooting after its installed.
Windows will auto detect the drivers and card. It will say in the driver section for the card that its the Windows standard driver, but guess what? Its not! You replaced the windows regular drivers with the new Cat.'s.

    Your all set!
