Strange alert window this morning

When I booted the computer this morning I got an alert window, like a Windows alert window, which stated "Potential Preview Problem".

Under this message were two choices:

"Disable this type of media for preview player"

"Enable this type of media for preview player"

"Disable this type of media for preview player" was picked as a default.

I left it selected and hit OK.

I then did a Copernic search for "Potential Preview Problem" and it came up empty.

I did an upgrade to Media Player 9.0 yesterday.

Has anyone else seen this message or know what it is about? The window gave me no info other that that which I have conveyed. Was this a possible conflict between MP 9.0. and another media player?

    Thanks,

    J

Weird one that Jim, I cannot even find in the bowls of the MSKB library. ( no doubt Adrynalyne will find it straigh away ;) )

quick question what OS you using?

what other media player do you have installed?

Was this or is this the only time its appeared and when you installed WMP9 did you re-boot or just turn off and this happened on first bootup after installing? you could be very right and the "potential preview problem" may be a reference to not being the default player for a certain one of the media formats.

Jim... looks as if you have all the codec's covered, as you say its more likely that WMP9 wasnt the default player for one of those whereas WinAMP was so WMP9 was asking do you want me to be the player for XXXXXXX.mediatype.

If you are having no other problems using WMP9 and all media is playing ok through it?

I still get some conflicts with WinAMP and WMP9.

If I attempt to stream a .asf file it defaults to WinAMP and doesn't play. If I click on it and the "save as" window comes up, I have to change the extension to .asX to get it to open in WMP9. Then it plays just fine.

What the difference between the two, besides the obvious "f" and "x" are I have no idea.
