hey there, forgive me im new to message boards and had a hard enough time just trying to write this post.
I read a previous post replied to from Tim W. (malware expert) and am unable to contact him but if anyone else can help It would be greatly appreciated.

I have completed the below step..............
Download bootkitremover.rar and save it to your desktop.

    * You then need to extract the remover.exe file from the RAR using a program capable of extracing RAR compressed files. If you don't have an extraction program, you can use 7-Zip
    * After extracing remover.exe to your Desktop, double-click the remover.exe file to run the program.
    * Attach or post inline here, the output from remover.exe

    The result was........
    \\.\C: -> \\.\PhysicalDrive0
    MD5: b19ee33a0168d5f0bb9afbe12e2bc035

    232 GB \\.\ PhysicalDrive0 unknown boot code

Unknown boot code has been found on some of your physical disks.
To inspect the boot code manually, dump the master boot sector: remover.exe dump <device_name> [output file]
To disinfect the master boot sector, use the following command:
    remover.exe fix <device_name>

I tried to do this below.........but it says windows cannot find when i copy and paste into run

    * Click Start, Run then copy and paste the below into the Run box and click OK.

    "%userprofile%\Desktop\remover.exe" fix \\.\PhysicalDrive0
    * Now reboot your PC and after reboot continue with the below instructions.
    * Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista or Win7, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    o C:\MGlogs.zip

**Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

This probably means that you did not follow the instructions and extract remover.exe directly on to your Desktop. If you minimize all Windows, do you see the remover.exe file itself on your Desktop. If not then you cannot run the fix since the file has to be on your Desktop to run it. You cannot run the program from inside of the RAR file.

Now follow the directions in the below link for running MGtools It also explains possible reasons for not being able to run MGtools.
    Attach the requested MGlogs.zip file.

i downloaded 7zip and tried to extract, it extracted into two read me's and a remover no exe. I have never done extraction. what did i do wrong there.

    I will do the mgtools.
MGtools and save to the root folder of the drive where you have installed Windows (Typically this would be C:\ and thus you would have a C:\MGtools.exe file after downloading)
it automatically prompts me to save to desktop, is that correct? It says C:\MGtools.exe when downloading but not on desktop
