I was wondering if the IP address on a cable connection changes. I wanted to setup a security video system that I can use over the internet but my cable internet provider doesn't provide a static IP plan.

i'm on comcast internet and they say the same thing, however, for the 6 months that i've had it my IP hasn't changed once. I even went to mexico for a week and shut off all PC's and the cable modem and STILL ended up getting the same IP when I got back.

Your ip wont ever change unless you get a router or something that changfes what you are connecting to to access your internet.
