just wondering what everyone is playing? wether it on PC PS3 360 or Atari for that matter. :p
I just finished Heavy Rain on PS3, it was .... ok... only took me 8-10 hrs. Actuallly it wasn't very good, great graphics though and good story.
Splinter cell conviction on PC, it wasn't much bigger than the above mentioned, 8-12 hrs. Good game, great controls, just not long enough.
Uncharted 2 on PS3. Now this is one I loved!! :major It was more like 18- 22hrs of game play. The controls were great the story was great, great graphics, just the right amount of FPS, RP. Truly remarkable.
I am playing Dante's Inferno on PS3 right now, Actually just beat it a few hrs. ago, going thru it again, change up my character abilities a lil'. It is good game just not really long enough.
The above mentioned was done in the last 2-3 weeks.
Before that I was playing Dragon age awakening,(PC) pretty good though not as good as origins, not as long.
Anyone have any suggestions about newer games that are a must to play?

If you want something really long why not try Read Dead Redemption? I have not played it personally but I have heard great things about it.

If you like long games, how about Fallout 3 or Oblivion? Both of them have thousands of mods available on PC.

    Get MW2, endless multiplayer fun!

    YEYYYYYY!!! :-D

Redemption is a good idea, I'll def. have to check that out. Fallout 3, already mashed it for a few months, as well as oblivion, all 4 from morrowind. MW2 already went thru it numerous times. unlocked almost all achievments.
Redemption, and just cause 2 are my next investments. I really like long games, IE. Oblivion, Fallout3, Neverwinter nights 2.

the witcher was a great game! I loved the story line, the unrated version was better, than what we got here in the US. but it was def. worth playing.

I am playing the unrated US version. Formally named: Enhanced Edition Directors Cut. Essentially identical to the original polish one, but in English. Got it from impluse.com

I was playing Age of Conan (AOC), after I got tired of WoW. But, Mimsy kept bragging about the witcher. So, AOC is my other game I'm playing, besides Just Cause 2.

How's AOC now adays? I played at release for awhile on Doomsayer server until right after they started merging servers and funkin everything up.

Not bad. I jumped onto AOC when their 1st expansion came out. Though, I haven't played in awhile. Still trying to finish the witcher, and I'm on chapter 4 now.

For the last week or so I've been playing Just Cause 2, the game is awesome, GTA type game but with a much prettier world and the grappling hook/parachute combo really opens up the game, lots of fun.
My boy just picked up Risen but I've yet to try it.

I started playing it, and got completely and totally stuck due to a glitch that trapped me in a region and wouldn't let me leave. If you don't have that problem, would you mind letting me know what mods you're running and other things? I don't mind if I have to reinstall the game and start over, I just want to be able to leave the polar region!

That's probably it... I added a bunch of graphics mods, including the one that makes it run in wide screen. Thanks! I'll give it another shot some time soon.

I am playing some of the regular PC stuff, Ghost Recon and CoD series and I was a great fan of the 'Conflict' series from Eidos until they lost the plot with 'Denied Ops' which looked and played as though it had been developed by me.
I also quite like and still play 'First to fight'.
As yet I only play as single player although one day I might rustle up the courage to face some aggressive 9 yr old!
Does anyone have any information about the new Ghost Recon title due for release in the autumn(fall)?

  23. Nedlamar

    Nedlamar MajorGeek

Yes, it's being released later this year and from what I gather it's a large mid-city urban setting and from what I've seen you now have some form of cloaking suit like Predator.
I just hope Ubisoft don't try and use this rediculas security software that has destroyed Assassins Creed 2 and a couple of other great games.

As for the games I'm playing, I have shifted my attention to Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm (possibly the most boring game ever made but somehow gripping lol) and I'm playing with the Mission Editor from Operation Flashpoint :DR as well as playing the game through on Hardcore.... which is pretty tricky, I keep getting lost :-D

  24. abz1nthe

    abz1nthe Command Sergeant Major

wow they made a game for deadliest catch? Love the show but somehow can't see it translated to a video game lol

  25. Nedlamar

    Nedlamar MajorGeek

Actually it's not too bad, could have been better. Having said that I don't think it would apeal much to general gamers, I used to Crab Fish for a part time job/hobby, nothing to the scale of the Alaskan guys but I've seen my share of high seas and terrifying moments just on a smaller scale. So I think it apeals to me because I can relate to it well, like I said, very boring but at the same time I find it compelling.
Fairly realistic too for the most part, you have to take into account things like injuries, weather, equipment malfuction, crab movement, ice build up, fuel/equipment wieght etc..... Shooting away (dropping) pots is long winded as there is no speed control but then if there were you could make mistakes. Hauling pots is somewhat exciting to see what you've caught. You also have to hire crew based on their skills and percentage of pay.
The difficulty settings are good, easiest sees lots of catch, not much in the way of bad weather , injuries or equipment failure while the harder settings have the crab moving around making it harder to find them, injuries happen when you move the boat suddenly you may lose a man overboard or they get hit by a pot on the crane etc, and equipment goes wrong making everything harder and requiring much more planning and quick thinking. The money you earn after pot collection fees, crew share and possible fines is spent on your boat and equipment, upgrades to engines, rudder, ammenities etc etc. The whole game is based on you getting as much money as possible in order to upgrade/maintain your equipment, the less you spend, the more problems you will run into.

It looks pretty good, nothing special but since the only real graphical drawings are the sea, boats/crew etc the overall picture is quite impressive for such a low budget game, think of the CSI games but at sea lol

If you like fishing in any capacity or enjoy the show (which I've only ever watched a couple of times lol) I would say to at least try this game, it's slow, relaxed (most of the time) and a good game ..... but I can't lie, it can get very boring at times.

    abz1nthe Command Sergeant Major

hmm sounds like something I might actually enjoy. I'm going to definitely check it out. Thanks for the post or else I would never have known it existed lol

  27. Nedlamar

    Nedlamar MajorGeek

You're Welcome, I'm kind of hoping they make another one with some extra options such as speed control while dropping/hauling. Just been playing for a while and just finished a season of horrendously rough weather, lost 4 crew (2 overboard, 1 head injury and one lost his finger in the bait machine) , rough season but if every season was flat calm with no problems it would be unbearably boring lol

Well, I am almost through red dead redemption, it's great. My little girl has been playing Sacred 2 for the last few days, and after everyone talking about KOTOR, I've been thinking about cranking it up again. :p I loved that game it's just the bug were completely unbearable. I couldn't even finish the game, I tried going to LUCASARTS forum, and get some fixes and stuff. :(

  30. Nedlamar

    Nedlamar MajorGeek

lol Yeah after a while if the seasons are getting a bit harsh I start messing around and take the boat into the middle of the storm and make them work!! see how long they can last before I'm down to just me and 1 other crewman :-D
Or I just run the boat full tilt into an iceburg or land to breach the hull and then head out into a storm lol
There's also quite a few "Non career mode" challenges that are quite fun although some are really long winded because they don't let you use fast time.

You don't want to go there. Go to Bioware's forum, where the hard core fans hang out, before you even start up the game, give them a brief summary of your past experience and ask them if they can help you. Just make sure you've read all sticky threads before you ask, the answer might well be in one of them.

Or, obviously, you can come here and we'll help you out. ;)

    Hi all :)

I am playing allot of games atm, it's probs easier to list them lol:

*Alien vs Predator (DX9 ver :-o Still pretty good)
*All Points Bulletin Beta (Still needs work on a few key fetures, pretty fun 3rd person GTA style game though)
*Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 1 & 2 Multiplayer (MW still awesome online, MW2 however...(what to say)... Ruined, too many cheaters? I havn't the time to explain how much worse they have made it]
*GTA San Andreas (Still awesome fun, even better on the PC)
*Left 4 Dead 2 (The multiplayer is awesome & the gameplay is still challenging, but what I find most challenging about it is trying to get the team to, you know be a team)
*Red Faction Guerilla (Brilliant game, terribly repetative though)
*Saints Row 2 ( I love it & find it hard to point flaws in it lol)
*Star Wars Battlefront II (Used to love it on the PS2 & now I love it even more on the PC, massive amounts of enimies you can have on a map like Kashik 400+ NPC's I think)
*Team Fortress 2 ( I avoided this game for so long & now I love it, no complaints at all here lol )
*Battlefield Bad Company 2 ( Simply amazing FPS, probs the best on the PC. The sound effects are perfect & the fact that you can blow holes in building makes campers a rarity lol)
*Dirt 2 (DX9 again, but still a great rally game)
    * Test Drive Unlimited ( What can I say other than I've played since Beta & I can't stop playing for some reason, a driving sim with MMO fetures & free roaming... Heaven :-D They are also bring out a TDU2 soon :eek)

Apart from those I have many more, I just don't have time to play them as you may have guessed lol

Well, I just started Assasin's Creed 2, ;). It was my father's day present. I'm only like 6 hrs. into it but it's pretty good. I finished Red Dead Redemption,... I think,,, :confused I killed Dutch, got the cows from Mcfarlains Ranch, and delivered the corn, I'm guessing the game keeps going?? The hidden codes/binary, and other things hidden in the game are fascinating indeed. Here's a link for those who are interested.

Aww that sucks, you have to do about 30-45 minutes of "Training" like the thing you did before you can start season mode , which is where you are free to do as you please pretty much.
Stupid idea for a demo, the missions arn't that big a part of the game in my opinion, I did finish them all once but since reinstalling it I can't be bothered lol

Ya' know I actually went looking in Lucasarts support forum, for my post a few years ago trying to get help, (to no avail) I can't seem to remember my screen name. :confused I know I sent them e-mails though, I can't find those either. Think I changed computers since then. But After asking for help in an e-mail, they basically told me, Sorry KOTOR is an older franchise, and they no longer offer technical support. I forget what was actually said but it was along those lines. I think I'm gonna start playing again soon. :p (Just as soon as I finish drinking my radiated water, Fallout fix) ;)
I'll def. be looking for help on bioware, and here so look out for me. :cool

Why? Well, some are free MMO's, some are games i love.

Some were free from Bioware's Alpha Test of Sw:Tor.

Got paid to play it for a week, got 6 free games, none of which i had owned but all of which i wanted so win/win for me.

    am i bragging? only a little ;)
