I tried it and I was missing COMCTL32.DLL or something like that. There are other LSP fixes out there that work without an install as well!

I added it because the author is reputable and it is spyware free. Next problem, I dont have these issues, so it is impossible to be sure it works. This is a rare exception at MajorGeeks where we can run the program, but not test it. I have confidence in the program.

    Thanks MA!

I d/l and kept it anyway just because its from MG's and I know these are safe as some out there are not safe. I have a collection of spyware tools. Right now I'm just about to hit 473MB haha!

    :)

Is this similar to LSPfix? I've had several occassins to use the LSPfix utility after getting rid of spyware. LOL, I don't have a sacrificial lamb around ATM to test this.

No, This is an automatic repair of the Winsock.

I know we are discussing a third party app, but you guys do know that SP2 for XP has included a tool to automatically repair the winsock, right?

I figured it was missing VBRun files. But to install something that other similar things do not require you to do seemed to be more my point. :)

    Hello All,

I'm the author of XP TCP/IP Repair. The installer was fixed. I forgot to include the comctl32.ocx file with the installation. It now works properly.

XP TCP/IP Repair is a very simple program. It just executes the commands already built into Windows XP when you click the buttons.

The top button, which resets your TCP/IP stack does nothing but issue the
"netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" command.

The lower button, which resets your winsock LSP's to their defaults and removes all others first checks to see if you are running Windows XP SP2. If you aren't it gives an error.

If you are running Windows XP SP2, it simply issues the "netsh winsock reset catalog" command.

This is just a GUI for the above commands. It makes it easier so you don't have to remember those commands. You can just push a button.

That is all that the XP TCP/IP Repair program does.
