AVAST FREE AV virus removal problem

Hi,Avast free av alerted us to a virus while online-----we put it in "virus chest immediately' to isolate it.We need to know how to rid and/or clean the virus.We did`nt notice any options to clean the virus at all.
We noticed an option to "delete" the virus by right clicking the virus in the virus chest-----does deleting the virus actually delete the virus from the computer or just delete the listed virus entry from the list only?
Perhaps a better AV program would clean the virus automatically--we don`t know,we just want the virus out of our computer or cleaned.

if its in the chest, it's renderded harmless.
if you delete it from the chest, it goes off your computer, not just the list.

 

Remember you are using the FREE version. Maybe the PRO version ($$$) does it automatically.They are entitled to make a dollar or more from their efforts. Be grateful there is a FREE version and it it is not limited time shareware. Anyone using the PRO version please comment. I use Avast FREE and am completely happy with it. Bazza
