so it all began not being able to check email..and then the computer would just shut down...and then programs would not work properly.

so i went for help and yesterday spent literally the entire day doing every single step on the pages and running all the things on the Intro pages from CCleaner to SpywareBlaster.

Now after running all of those and HJT and deleting IE and now only running Firefox and Opera - I can now sign into my email BUT I still cannot log into my user account in my Control Panel all i get is a blank screen and for some reason also I cannot print now since running the scans. Also my Windows Media Player played fine before all the issues but after they all began when I try to open I get the wizard that says welcome to setup as if it's never been used.

So here goes here is the log from HJT, any help would be duely appreciated.

You never completed the steps in the READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal thread. I see no evidence of the Trend Micro and Symantec online scanners being run. Is there a reason you did not run them. Did you skip anything else?

Also do not post HJT log unless requested and do not post them inline. Also HJT logs must be from Normal Boot mode. Please read the sticky threads.

So please complete the steps from the READ ME FIRST and makes sure you are in normal boot mode and then follow the steps below exactly!

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).

Also what do you mean by
IE cannot be deleted! It is an integral part of the OS. You don't have to run it, but it really cannot be uninstalled.

Also one final note, HijackThis will not typcially show problems related to email logins etc unless there is a true malware prorgram running that causes it.

i did run them both twice, and each time I did the computer would just shut down completely. I chose to go on as it seemed each time I spent hours waiting for each to finish and in the end my computer would just shut down...and literally spent the entire day doing all the instructions. Those were the only two things that seemingly did not go well.

But as I reported. Okay I guess thank you, but I did state I did print and read all the steps I don't think it was necessary for you to reiterate so often within the email.

Again thanks and now I see from a previous thread of someone else why she chose to go elsewhere with the manner and tone of the response back to her posting as well.

    all the best.

All we ask is that you follow the directions in the announcements and the sticky threads. A small price to pay for free help. You never stated in your first post that you had any problems running the steps in the sticky threads (in particular with the online scans). When they do not show up in the O16 section of a HijackThis log, it only means one thing. They were not run. That was the reason I said they were not run and I asked if anything else was skipped. There is no tone implied. For us to help you, all we request is that directions be followed.

We have hundreds of users coming here per week and you would be amazed how many items the online scanners pickup even after the users have run their on antivirus program on their system. On the otherhand, they may pickup nothing. But either way this is important information to us. Had you stated at the very started that you could not complete the scans for whatever reason, you would have been asked to post your HijackThis log (the last part of my previous message).

Sorry you feel the way you do because there was no implied tone. Just a request to follow directions and relay information to us. If you worked on hundreds of these per week, you would insist on directions being follow too.

Hope you get your problems resolved!
