    Hey

I have a laptop (Toshiba Equium L40 X10) and it came with Windows Vista Home Edition on it.

Yesterday i took Vista off and replaced it with XP Pro. when i was going through device manager i found that i was missing some drivers.
Does anyone know where i can get them from????? the back up restore CDs i got with that Laptop are Vista back ups only and i didnt get a driver CD because that is integrated with the Vista disk.

If any of you guys know where to get them from please let me know.

    Cheers Fellow Geeks!!!!! :major

PS. i remember calling microsoft tech help and they told me its near impossible to get XP on top of Vista.... they not very bright are they!! hahah,

Have you tried Toshiba's site to see if they even have XP drivers for your stuff? Sometimes they will only offer Vista and not XP drivers. I would download this: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4387.html

Should tell you what all you have under the hood. You may have to go to the people who made each part's website to find a XP driver.

Hopefully you will get lucky and can snag 'em from Toshiba's site.

    And welcome to MajorGeeks!

As you found out (and many others before you, and I'm sure many others after you will find out too), removing Vista in favor of XP will result in missing drivers. Many times, finding XP drivers for a PC released with Vista can be a very daunting task, and in some cases, impossible. Sometimes drivers are just not available anywhere for Windows XP when the devices were designed for Vista. It's like trying to find Win98 drivers for a new PCIexpress video card; they just don't exist. It's usually best to try to find the drivers for XP BEFORE removing Vista so you can be sure that your new OS install will function properly. If Fred's link doesn't reveal the hardware specs, try one of these:
    Everest Home Edition http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
Unknown Devices http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3908.html (this one is probably your best bet for accurate details)
