Alright well my comp is partioned into 5 drives and since some are getting low and other remaining quite free and even after my best attempts to relieve space i have decided to get the comp unpartitioned.

So there will only be 1 drive "C" , anyway the problem that im gonna have is that i listen to music alot and i have a playlist with all my songs thats long like 32Hours long and its music from several different drives because i changed download music location several time as the drives filled up.

when it all becomes one drive all the music will problem go in one folder called My Music so my problem is that my playlist is gonna have like 90% of the songs not found because its going to be looking in drives that dont exist. I know you say readd all of them but realisticly thats gonna take a long time. The only solution i could think off is if there some sort of way to change all the file location that WMP looks in to My Music in C drive is that possible?

    Any solutions?

just a suggestion. Since you are going to repartition your HD, i guess you are gonna do a new installation. Maybe, not sure but when you reinstall your music playing software to your new partition and/or installation then perhaps the software will autodetect and recreate a new playlist depending on new location of music files. If you have an extra HD you could always have a secondary Primary slave drive to store your music exclusively or purchase an external HD.

im not sure because my uncle is the one thats gonna unpartition my computer. If anyones done this please post but i thought i might of found a solution.. and some sites seem to say that it works but i tried and was unsuccesful.

What i did was open the playlist with notepad which displays

i would think that if you change the location using replace all from lets say "G:\My Music" to "C:\My Music" it would automaticaly change the location solving the problem but it seems when u open that playlist it still has the same file location regardless if you changed it using notepad :(

    Sir
i'm not trying to be a smarty pants but if you remove the partition and repartition then you will lose everything on that hard drive. This would result in reloading operating system and softwar unless i'm misunderstanding you. Trying to be helpful and have fun reading forums :)

its gonna have its partitioned removed and its going to be one big C drive. Im not going to have it repartition and i was told its going to keep all the files , folders and programs without losing anything unless im mistaken.

Sorry for the double post but i made some progress , i really need someone that knows stuff about WMP to help me i guess.

    This is what i did

    1. Created a playlist called "test"
    2. Using notepad i opened the Playlist file , which gave me that code i posted earlier
    3. i Then copied in the code of another playlist which pretty much duplicated "test" playlist to another fully working playlist.
    4. I then changed the Location of all the songs to something like J:\My Music and put some songs in there but it then corrupted the playlist and it dint open.

i think it has something to do with the cid or tid at the end of some songs anyone know what those are?

Anyone ever change the location of alot of files on WMP get back to me.

    Main question i need answering.

What in God's green earth is the Cid and Tid attached to the mp3? where did it come from ? and how do i remove it?

That seems to be whats creating all this problem and not allowing me change the location of the song. Because new songs i just added to the playlist dont have a cid or a tid and it seems to be able to change file location using "error details" and the notepad way.

There absolutely no info on "cid" or "tid" on google that i can find.

    SOLUTION

alright well after all that searching and everything i have found a solution which i will post for anyone that has or will have this problem.

So to be clear the problem is really when your moving your music around and your playlist will no longer find it because it is in a different folder. This solution is only convenient if your are moving alot of mp3 files.

So this is if you have a WPL , windows media player.

1- Alright so you moved all your mp3 files from lets say C:\My Music to D:\My Music

2- Now you could try opening the WPL file using notepad and editing the file location there.. but it doesnt seem to work at least not for me and i have come to the conclusion its because the tid and cid numbers. Because all the mp3 with out them have worked and changed locations.

3- So what your going to have to do is download and install WinAmp.

4- Open the WPL playlist with winamp and wait till it loads , when its done save it as a WinAmp playlist which is .m3u

5- When it is saved , go to notepad and open the m3u playlist.

You will see something like this for every file

now what you have to do is go to Edit>Replace and in the fields type

    Find What : C:\My Music\
Replace With: D:\My Music\ (whatever folder the music has been moved to)

    Save it when your done.

6- Windows media player should be able to open the m3u file and you can then save it back to WPL.

Key Fact: The Mp3 file is going to have to have the exact same name as before or else it wont work.
