Gateway charger tip getting very hot

    HI I have a gateway solo 1450. When I plug the charger into the laptop it gets very hot. The part that get hot is the tip where it plugs into the laptop. It doesn't just get a little hot either, it gets abnormally hot. I tried a different charger and the same problem occurs. If anyone has advice please pass it on. Thanks

    Possibly a bad/ faulty battery.

    I tried it with a new battery and I still have the same problem. Also I have to wiggle the cord to get it to charge. I think the DC jack is loose. A computer repair shop told me I had to replace the entire motherboard and it would cost $400. I thought I culd just replace the Dc jack. Does anyone else know what could fix my problem? Thanks
